Just went over the fifty pitch mark to get two outs.  New pitcher up from the minors  proves up with a bonehead defensive play.  Why didn’t Rocco take Cano out when the left hander comes up with BL?  Cuz he likes to leave a guy in pitching right-handed when he can’t throw strikes and is over forty pitches to get one out?  Bang zoom three runs. The whole day shaped up to be like a forfeit.

Going into this series, Santana, a switch hitter,  had been basically helpless as a left handed hitter (he was the hitter up with the bases loaded). Secondly, the Twins currently only have one lefty in the 'pen.

Somehow today's lineup doesn't seem to be the best lineup.

Is it construction? Wrong guys on the bench in the same game?

Is the Royals pitching that good?

Yes, yes, no, Just my opinion. Add relief pitching decisions in a close, winnable game.

Also, what's more tried and true in baseball than the Sunday afternoon get-away lineup of scrubs?

Add to that a SS and CF, positions that typically don't sit often, having mandatory days off; it creates a less than ideal situation. Nonetheless, it's still disappointing seeing B squad lineups when we all likely agree that this team needs every W they can get.

And they just sent back Smeltzer, the only lefty starter (brief lefty starter).

I guess that's........ all right.

I actually don't mind the lineup.  I am more irritated we left Cano in to die in a one run game.

That and Kepler's putrid at-bat.

I get that you have to play the "subs" its a long season.  Dont get habitually playing them all in same game.  That seems to be a Twins tradition.

Because the alternative is always handicapping your team, which in my mind, ends up in more losses.  If we can run the A lineup/bullpen out there 80 to 90 % of the time, that's going to win us a lot of games.

I've been gone for the weekend; how taxed is the bullpen exactly?
