Message added by Squirrel,

I'm going to put this message up every game thread until all May dates have been spoken for! :) We still have 4 dates open in May and are looking for starters ... who will the takers be? @Buffy the Twins Fan? @PDX Twin? @Vanimal46? @ashbury? Just do it! Contact stringer bell today! :) Go Twins! (If I didn't call your name today, I'll get you in tomorrow ... until all dates have been spoken for.)

I guess we found out that Archer is not ready to go 5 innings.

Putting a team together is pretty tricky. Bundy, Gray, Archer, Sanchez, Urshela, Paddack, Pagan, Cotton, and Correa were the major additions and we still hope it all works out.

More and more MLB teams might be looking more carefully at signing huge contracts. houston tried to resign Correa but they are pretty content with Pena right now. He is smooth in the field and leads all rookies in everything (mol).

If he’s not stretched out after a month, will he ever be?

Everything I've read so far on the rain delay indicates that the rules that were used for 2020 are still in play. Can anyone point me towards a page that says otherwise?

If the game is redone tomorrow, teams will be allowed 10 players on the field, a runner on second and the batter will start with 3 BB.

Maybe in olden times it was too difficult to keep track of what happened in the early innings?  No computers and the rain would wipe the ink off the scorecards?  We should ask Chief.

If they could restart tomorrow it wouldn't be much of a problem. But a month or more from now one roster (or both) could look very different. How would you handle that if players who played the first three innings aren't around anymore. If a team's roster has replaced 5 players who played, do they get a new 26-man roster to do substitutes? They would have a bunch of extra players and not be constrained about where they bat.

I'm guessing that is the rationale for the "start-over" rule that is traditional.

That makes a ton of sense. Thanks.

Thinking it over myself, another reason might be that there would be a lot of empty seats if the home team was down by a few runs. Probably even the most die-hard fans wouldn't be happy to go to a game where the home team is already down by a sizable amount when the games starts.

Too be fair I believe they might have had papyrus by then, although I think it was expensive and hard to come by,  I think you would only use it for a play-off game.

Ah yes, the special occasion parchment!

There’s a 0% chance they resume tonight.

The storm passed through my area in less than an hour.  It was booking, winds near 80 mph.  It's calmed down quite a bit now.  If it's similar to the north where the Twins are, I wouldn't be too surprised if the game resumed.  I hope we get a mulligan instead.

Even with the drainage system TF has, there may have been too much rain.  3"-4" per hour rainfall rates blew through.

And nobody even remembers Ann Peebles.

Nice song and good singer and performance, but I keep trying to figure out what that show this is.  It is like they took a bunch of the Brady Bunch extras from the high school scenes, gave them valium and they are wondering why they cannot be at an Osmond's concert instead.  Then at around 2 minutes there are strange puppet people that look like they escaped from HR Puffinstuf or Chuck E Cheese.

Same here but the rain was so intense there’s no way the outfield is playable at Target Field tonight. Plus, still some leftover lightning and thunder by me. We’re better off with a double header tomorrow.

WCCO showed a picture of Allianz field flooding commenting how its drainage system was being overwhelmed.

If they can’t resume tonight, the game will be suspended and resumed from the same point on a future date. The old “5 innings” rule is no more. No clean slate for the Twins, unfortunately!

From a March 2022 report: ”the 2020-21 suspended game rule has been made a permanent part of the CBA between MLB and the MLB Players Association.”
