I think if he catches it he had a shot. In any case there's no reason to give up the plate to block the throw, in that case he absolutely doesnt get the out.

It looked to me like the ball that Correa threw hit just the lip of the grass, just bordering the dirt. It appears that Sanchez was ready for the ball if it would have hit the dirt - but it didn't, mainly because the throw was offline.

I know Sanchez isn't exactly Drew Butera out there defensively but I don't blame him for what happened on that relay.

If it hits the grass on the foul side of the dirt, it should have bounced back towards home and into him, and that's not what happened.

The replay I'm watching isn't definitively clear, but I don't think it hit the grass.  But like I said, it's not obvious.

Did you see the replay from the outfield camera? The ball went 4ft or more to Gary's left after hitting the edge of the grass.

I've only seen the replay from behind home.

Another GIDP, just awful. That 3 double-plays tonight the Twins have hit into?

Also, someone mentioned Urshela earlier. I read somewhere that he hit a HR on opening day and hasn't hit an extra-base hit since then? The ball comes off his bat like it's made of lead. He's got no pop at all.

Well this game may not end the way we want, but for me I just want to know that Bundy won't be allowed to achieve his own personal 3 game losing streak. The leash must be shorter than last year. 20/20 says he shouldn't have come back in after the mini rally. I agree. Let's just stop the bleeding, this season is so promising and there are other options. 88mph fastballs are not my cuppa.

This is starting to feel like one of those 2021 games where misplays and horrible luck and bad managerial decisions all come together to sink the Twins.

Let's hope they can rally again!

After Gray is back I want Bundy out of the rotation. Really. I sort of understand how Rocco wanted to save the pen and squeeze more out of Bundy (though I disagreed) but Bundy has now screwed up twice in a row and he doesn't have the track record that would earn him the benefit of doubt.

One of the biggest mistake last year was trotting out Happ and Shoemaker every fifth day until it was too late. Unlike last year, we have better options now. Don't make the same mistake twice.

Unfortunately I doubt Rocco is going to listen to you now. They paid Bundy $5 million to be in the rotation. It might at least take couple more starts for the FO to be on the same page with you.

Ok. They showed the replay from the outfield after that and made it clear that no one would be able to have caught that in Gary's spot.

The pundits know better, it fits the Sanchez can’t catch narrative

Fair enough.  Love to see that angle if anyone finds it.  I'm looking, but have yet to find it.

I hate the idea that a player's salary should determine their playing time. If they can't do the job, they shouldn't play, no matter how much they're making.

Not everyone has the benefit of watching it on TV and can only make judgement by the replays that are available to them.

So you didn’t even see it? Smh

I've seen the replay, as I've previously stated in the post you quoted.  Multiple times even.  And I didn't comment until after seeing it.  So, yes, I've seen the play.

Exactly. Paid. Past tense. Continuing to start Bundy won't bring that $5M back. It will just make it more likely that they wasted another $35.1M.

Unfortunately, I share your fear that the Twins will think that way but I really wish they would not make decisions based on what they already paid but rather based on what's the current best path for the team.

There is also this: Cheap signings and reclamation projects like Bundy have a high failure rate.

If you're not willing to give up on those players as soon as it becomes apparent that it doesn't work out, you shouldn't make this type of signing in the first place. At least not if you want to win.

But who knows, maybe the Twins have learned from last year and are taking Bundy out of the rotation. Losing today is unfortunate, but it's baseball, you're gonna lose some games. (And maybe they come back?) The Twins just need to learn from their losses.

Have fun here, I will switch over to the Wild game now. Hopefully that goes better!
