What makes you think Falvey and Levine’s jobs are in jeopardy?

That was just an exaggeration lol, I don’t actually think their jobs are in jeopardy.

I'm not sure how to answer this because it's completely dependent on my expectations heading into the season.  Coming off of last season and a weird offseason, my expectations were that they'd be one of the added wild card teams.  I'm still on that boat, but if the Central continues to be as bad as it is right now, then I go from classifying a successful season as a playoff appearance to a series win.  And that's even considering the fact that they're still not legitimate competitors, just the benefactor of yet another atrocious division.

I chose "win a postseason series" but my real definition of success this season is to win at least one ****ing postseason game.

For most teams one win doesn’t mean **** if you don’t win a series.

But as a Twins fan?

At the end of the year what is success does depend on the variables beyond the team control. If the injured position players from last year have a similar patterns this year .500 could be deemed a success.  On the other hand, if the other teams continue as they have been, not winning the division would be a failure.

I really don't know if other teams' fans care as much about how you lose a series as Twins Daily followers do. It may be an internet thing as to me there is much more complaining than supportive statements.

The win total is certainly something that is made into a mountain versus being a molehill it could be if compared to Seattle's playoff run s over a similar time period

My definition of a successful season will be much different than most and it has nothing to do with win/loss records.  Its ultimately as an organization do they continue to improve the talent in the organization.  This is from coaching and acquiring more talent through draft, trades, ect.   So for me ideally I would like to see Correa do really well and get traded at the deadline.  I want Lewis to continue to do well and earn the SS position on the big league team.  If they can trade some of their short term pitching for something useful I would be ok with that as well.  Sanchez we will likely have to keep as we really do not have a back up catcher.

If Lewis is not as good as Correa that is a loss, this team need strong players, now, so we do not return to .500 years, plus or minus as Twins did in the seventies a good rooky player here and there, but never enough to make a truly good team all at once because too many were good AAA but not in the Majors.

It you know of a way to guarantee Correa is here beyond this year I will agree with you.  However we all know this is likely not the case.  Correa is valuable because we know he is a stud.  Lewis is an unknown although he has very good tools.  I understand the dilemma, but our front office went into this knowing this was an opportunity to acquire a very good player for 1 year,  providing an insurance policy to Correa if he had a poor year. If he has a good year it leaves us in the enviable position of either flipping him for a very good return, or keep him for the rest of the year and see what happens.

I am right with you.  I would love to see a playoff team but like all the national media, I did not believe the team had a any shot of being a true contender.  Things are looking good at the moment and they might be more of a contender than I could have hoped for.  Ryan / Duran / Ober / Bundy / Paddack and Larnach are looking like the will provided a big boost.  Kepler has been a nice surprise as well.

I am simply more concerned with the things that drive sustained success.  Success for me is Ryan / Winder and Duran showing they will elevate this team for the next 6+ years.  Paddack could be a nice boost for 3 years.  Has Max Kepler figured it out.  That would be big for 3 years.  Can a couple more pitchers among (Balazovic / Sands / Henriguez / Canterino establish themselves at the ML level in the rotation or BP.  Then there is the trio of Miranda / Lewis and Martin.  It would be huge if all three of them are contributing to the big league club at some point this season.

My measure of success will be heavily influenced by how they get there.  Buxton proving he can stay healthy.  Ryan / Winder / Ober and Duran having great success.  Larnach / Miranda getting established as middle of the order bats.  These young guys contributing in a big way will be an important part of how I will measure success at the ML level.  The development of the next wave in the minors will also be important to how I view the teams relative success.  Lewis and Martin having big years.  The next wave of pitching (SWR / Raya / SGL / Varland, etc) performing in Milb.  If all of these developments come to fruition it will be a very successful season IMO, regardless of how many playoff wins they have.  It will fell pretty successful if we can realistically look forward to good to great teams for the next several years.

Last year this very same question was asked. The consensus was to win a post season game. After so many years of not winning any post season game, winning would mean so much to us Twins fans. But instead of going for it they punted when they got low ceiling/ low floor Happ & Shoemaker w/o any plan and questionable Colume'. Together with poor evaluations and management, doubling down on bad mistakes, our season was lost leaving the gate.

I was very uneasy this off season with Ober/ Ryan, but what made me optimistic was they had a plan. They needed to get some bona fide veterans, which they did, Gray, Bundy and Archer. Our greatest hope was Gray so far he hasn't done anything, Bundy has exceeded expectations but can he maintain it? records shows that he can't so he has to be correctly managed. Archer is very promising but after not pitching much for 2 1/2 years, he needs to be taken slow. IDK why the traded Rogers for Paddack, we definitely needed Rogers but we didn't need an extra starter since we had Winder, Smeltzer and near ready pospects in waiting.

My greatest fear is Baldelli's mindset of relying so heavily on short RPing, therefore somewhere down the line there'll be another meltdown if he doesn't change it. The only solution is bringing in more regularly long relief. Always having that release valve ready for the rotation and the short relief.

If everything goes right my expectations is to win a post season series. But to be a successful in my eyes they need to win a post season game that will be hugh & get that monkey off our back.

Honestly, I never intended to measure this year based on winning percentage. If the team ended the year having four starters pitching well enough to be locked into 2023 rotation spots, that was going to be a success for me.

If the team called up most of the top prospects from AA and AAA to evaluate, that was going to be a success to me.

If those things happened and we ended up with a roster of capable young guys now with at least a season's worth of experience and only a couple of holes they needed to fill in free agency so they'd be a legit contender in 2023 season, that was going to be success for me.

And so far, they're crushing expectations in those regards.

Things to make this season successful.  (Note not all are required just this is a list of individual things collectively I want to see most of them however) (Also note this list is after winning 9 of 10 games.  10 games ago I would have been happy with winning 82 games as a team and developing a core of pitchers)

1.  Develop several starting pitchers into competent major league starters for next year and beyond and continue adding prospects to the pipeline

2.  Get Miranda, Jeffers, Arreaz, Lewis, Martin, Larnarch, and Gordon fully established in the majors or at least enough experience so that next year they are ready to go.

3.  Sign Correa to contract extension.  (If we develop enough low-cost pitching, we can afford this and why not).

4.  Win a playoff game then playoff series

5.  Finish the regular season with over 90 Wins.  (Twins are currently on pace for 95.7 wins).
