Hindsight is 20-20. La Russa believed in his All-Star closer and he got beat. Tony's in the Hall of Fame and they aren't going to take him out for that, but I guess I thought it was a real gamble that he didn't have to take.

What is the benefit of pithing to Buxton there?    That is managing 101.  The game has passed him by........

Sox fans likely asking themselves the same question.

Assuming Arraez would not waste his second big chance, maybe not.

Loading the bases for Arraez isn't exactly ideal either.  He could have won the game on a single too.  Pick your poison.  Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.

And Goday COULD HAVE hit a  home run......but you gotta play the odds....set up a double play with a slow runner.....don't pitch to a guy who's killing you.  It made NO sense.  Not defensible.

I get the odds argument, but LaRussa bet that his all-star closer could take care of business against a RH batter instead of facing the LH hitting Arraez.  That is defensible, in my opinion.  It just didn't work out for him this time.  That's fine if you disagree.
