GAME THREAD: Dodgers @ Twins, 4/13/22, 12:10 CT

I'm not sure which is worse... watching the Twins not give the Dodgers a game, or listening to Bremeau backstop the Dodgers' decision to not even give Kershaw a chance to get a couple of quick outs to extend his 80 pitch perfect game and see where it went from there.

I remember this from last year. Leaving a reliever out to dry only to DFA him the next day.

The PA should have demanded that players brought up to the major leagues received 15 days minimum pay and service whether the were DFA'ed or not. The manipulation of pitchers does nothing for the players or game. MLB went to 28 person rosters and teams have 16 pitchers yet a couple of teams are using fielders to throw in the games. The rules need to force managers into managing the game using 25 players. It is a definite turn for the worse in baseball.

Kinda shows the gap between a legit contender and a wannabe.

Yup. It's almost like we're from a different developmental league. 10 games would give us a better feel, but I'm guessing the Dodgers still would win nine of those.

Twins management, whether it be Rocco or the FO, manage the season like there are 500 games to be played. So many “whatever” games where losing doesn’t seem to be all that bad of an outcome. Head scratching

Baldelli can't stand in the box and face a future HOFer completely dialed in.  He also used the appropriate BP arms considering the situation.

I’m talking about continually pulling starters early, leaving a reliever in too long. A newly acquired one too. It was a 3 run game not a blowout

It's interesting that people still say pulling starters early is a Rocco thing. You literally just watched the best organization in baseball pull a future HOFer 6 outs from a perfect game after 80 pitches. This isn't a Rocco thing, it's a baseball thing.

Thoughts on the first week of ball - The twins will struggle against good pitching - we don't make enough contact.  The Paddock trade makes no sense to me at all.  We will give away a game a week because of "rest".  I'm hopeful for Archer and Bundy to give us decent starts though. Maybe similar to what we got out of Big Mike?  Can't we get Miranda up somehow?  He'd give us so much more than an injured Kirloff and the typical Sano.  Also, lets get a good look at Gordon someway, somehow.

Thoughts on this - is it Rocco's philosophy that leads to the Twins being one of the worse teams in baseball the last two years with runners in scoring position and bad defense or is it the players that we have?
