The average start for American League teams last year was exactly 5.0 innings. The National League didn't have the DH then so it's a different situation and I won't use their stats. You're literally arguing against the entire baseball industry. Every team is expecting 4 innings out of their pen every single game (on average). This is how baseball is played now. This is not just a Rocco thing. It's not just a Rocco and Roberts thing. This is how baseball is played now. Not saying anyone has to like it (I don't). But people need to stop complaining about Rocco when it comes to the length of starts. Every team in major league baseball does the exact same stuff. Every. Single. One.

Yesterday a game the Twins could have won, Archer pitched 4 innings, not the problem. Seven relievers was the problem. Somebody is going to fail, no question. Then today he actually gets 3 innings from a reliever, so he sends him out for four, come on. We were probably going to lose, so why even try right… wrong! And Gray with his 4.2 inning start, not the problem. 4 relievers is the problem. You can’t get 2 innings from any of them? If you do, Duffey sits and the Twins win. So after 6 games they’ve won 2, gave away two they could have won, and gave up on a game when they were down only 3. Blame the offense? Go ahead, but if the manager isn’t going to try to win it, how motivated are the players expected to be?
