The recently released Saints catcher Stevie Berman, who came to the Twins for Andrew Vasquez last season, signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays.

LUKE FARRELL has signed a minor league contract with the Cubs. He pitched out of the Twins bullpen in the 2021 season.

 

Daniel Camarera was released by the Padres organization. Jake Reed, a former high-round draft pick, started the season on the Mets injured list, his fourth team since departing the Twins in 2020 off-season (Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, and now Mets), was sent down to the minors. Marcos Diplan was called up by the Orioles.

Infielder J.T. RIDDLE, who had a very brief stint with the Twins in 2021, was selected for the Reds major league roster.

Marcos Diplan was optioned back to the minors by the Orioles.

MICHAEL PINEDA is in the majors with the Tigers. Visa problems gave him and Detroit a mutual agreement to start the season at AAA Toledo, where he was scheduled to make three starts to get into shape. Needs have shortened that stay!

Nick Burdi has been released by the San Diego Padres. Hoping to comeback after his second round of Tommy John surgery, looks like he won't be recovering further witrh the Padres, who signed him back in October.

Burdi was one of the "hot arm prospects" that the Twins drafted over the 4-year period of 2012-2015 that included names like Tyler Jay, Kyle Cody, Jovani Moran, Michael Cederoth, Sam Clay, John Curtiss, Kohl Stewart, Ryan Eades, Stephen Gonsalves, Aaron Slegers, Jose Berrios, Luke Bard, Mason Melotakis, J.T. Chargois, Zach Ward and Tyler Duffey. A couple made it to the bigs for the Twins, but some drfited elsewhere and others just...to put it mildy, floundered.

Minnesota Twins fans have memories of the career shortening eye issues for Twins Legend Kirby Puckett.

KYLE BARRACLOUGH has been called up by the Angels. Barraclough is one of those rare Twins. He was drafted by the team back in 2011 but didn't sign, instead signing with the Cardinals. He spent time in the majors with the Marlins, Giants and Nationals and was in the Yankees system, before joining the Twins and getting in 10 September games and 13 innings, winning two games and striking out 18 while walking 8 with a 5.54 era.

Yeah, he was a speedy prospect that lingered too long in AA ball, and was moved about at the Twins discretion. Got four games and stole a base in the majors. Still only 25 and from Australia. I imagine it will be a short stay, but good for Aaron.
