A good team can be created out of these former Twins' players.

The lockout apparently has caused a delay in the Baseball America books this year. As soon as I get the 2022 Directory I will look for other FO and scouts. But I have no delivery date as of now. The Almanac just came this week and the Prospect Handbook isn't coming for another month.

EDIT: Just looked at my order and it's not being released until mid-June.

Thanks for the great work! Where ex-Twins go and how they perform is a constant interest of mine. Most of the time, I have no problem with a player doing well and I don’t blame the Twins often if the players thrives. Once in a while, there’s an obvious mistake by the front office.

I've been doing this list stuff for ages, largely for fellow autographers. And especially for the long defunct Twinscards site where I illustrated yearly rosters (majors and minors) with player autographed cards. I originally got into collecting Twins autographs, then anyone on the 40-man. It expanded to those that were in the Twins system but made the majors with other teams. And as I got more into minor league card sets, I pretty much track anyone A-level and above. I also go over the draft records on BaseballCube as it is a powerhouse for tracking those drafted players...and started to be taken by the number of guys that never signed with the Twins but went onto careers with other teams. Far from perfect, and my mind forgets names over each year. But I have fun...still, after 50+ years sending out letters to Twins-related players with images for autographing.

It’s too bad we couldn’t keep him around.

Yes. Trey Cabbage lost that 2020 season, but his work in 2022 didn't get him to AAA yet with another organization. And he probably would've been stuck in the same spot with Minnesota this season with Miranda returning to St. Paul, at least for the start.

Lots of former Twins with major league experience with the Twins looking for another trip to the majors. Michael Pineda is starting in the minors. Mainly because of Visa issues. He will be back up in Detroit before long.

Not sure if it would be a major league team, but maybe a decent AAA team (?):

Rotation arms: Stephen Gonsalves, Aaron Slegers, Tommy Milone, Chase De Jong, Andrew Albers, Edwar Colina.

Lots of catchers: Chris Herrmann, Juan Centeno, Juan Graterol, Tomas Telis.

Infield? Brent Rooker, J.T. Riddle, Travis Blankenhorn, Tsu-Wei Lin, Drew Maggi, Ronald Torreyes and super-sub Willians Astudillo. Patrolling the outfield: Rob Refsnyder, Ryan LaMarre and Aaron Whitefield.

The bullpen looks like a Twins bullpen, lots of arms and pray for results but no closer! Tyler Clippard, Ralph Garza Jr., Aaron Vasquez, Shaun Anderson, Kyle Barraclough, Blake Parker, Brandon Waddell, Beau Burrows, Trevor Hildengerber, Mike Vincnet, and Michael Tonkin.

Taylor Rogers got a reunion with his brother Tyler, now that he wears the National League uniform of the Padres. A bittersweet movement as the brothers traded lineup cards before the game. Tyler ended up getting the loss in relief for the Giants. Taylor posted HIS THIRD SAVE for the Padres!

He went to Japan or Korea, I believe. Don’t know whether or not he’s still there

A bit of movement. ANDREW VASQUEZ has been called up by the Angels. RALPH GARZA JR. has been called up by the Tampa Bay Rays. The Garza was sent down and the next day former Rule-5 miss Dusten Knight was called up by the Rays for a day and then sent back out.

Chase Anderson was released after one start with Toledo and removed from the 40-man roster, resigning a minor league contract. The 2006 42nd round draftee (didn't sign) for the Twins has played eight years, primarily as a rotation arm, with the Phillies, Diamondbacks, Brewers, and Blue Jays going 56-46 4.20 ERA in 938 major league innings.

What a great and insightful post.  If I do another forum like this in a month I will use your insights, but maybe you should do the next update.

The following is from his Wiki page.

Sugar Land Skeeters[edit]

On July 18, 2020, Rodney signed on to play for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Constellation Energy League (a makeshift 4-team independent league created as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic) for the 2020 season.[33]

Houston Astros[edit]

On July 31, 2020, the Astros signed Rodney to a minor league deal.[34] Rodney was released by the Astros on September 2, 2020.

Toros de Tijuana[edit]

On March 1, 2021, Rodney signed with the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League for the 2021 season.[35] He led the league in saves with 16, won the "Reliever of the Year" award, and saved 9 games in the playoffs to help the Toros win their second championship.[36]

You are right - I need to read more closely.

Here is the last note on Romero's page - On December 18, 2020, a day after his release from Minnesota, Romero signed a one-year, $724K contract with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball.  Baseball reference shows his Japanese ERA - 4.72

If I do this in a month or Rosterman does the next update I can see that there will be a lot more statistics and players.  The Twins are really spread out around both leagues.

I will be doing recaps of former Twins every couple of weeks, since MLB allows you to see and pull their stats easily over that specific time period.

Fernando Rodney (as well as Bartolo Colon) are both in Mexico hoping to get jobs once that season open in a couple of weeks. Those rosters haven't been finalized at all yet, as well as the first of the Indy Ball leagues that also opens at month's end, with most of the other Indy leagues seeing play mid-late May.

He was the youngest guy in the Johan Santana deal. Spent 2008-2014 in the Twins minors and never got the call, not even a cup of coffee, before signing with the Pirates and playing for four other teams since. Deolis Guerra goes under the Tommy John knife!
