Kepler crushes Gordon

Probably wrong time to mention this because his health is most imporant right now, but this is what happens when the Twins consistently run with IF in the OF with no experience. Kepler has played there forever now and I'm sure he called it off.

Sano, Arraez, Gordon. When will they learn?

NIck Gordon is a 26 year old baseball player. Max Kepler is a 29 year old baseball player.

At age 16... as a High School sophomore.

I knew at that young age that you called for the ball.

I knew that the CF called off the corner OF's. I knew that the OF called off the IF on balls hit behind the IF.

I knew what "BALL" or "GOT IT" or "Mine" meant and I knew who was yelling it when it was yelled.

I knew that you keep going after the ball unless someone calls you off and I knew that you should always play hard meaning if you can get to the ball... you get to it and I also knew that calling for a ball and not getting to it is a no-no.

I knew the entire cut system and I knew who should back up what base. I knew a lot at age 16.

I have not come close to the amount of games that these two have played at age 26 and 29.  The coaching that they have been exposed to, I would assume is multiple times better than the coaching that I received.

The Narrative that this collision was because of inexperience instead of hustle and the ball landing exactly between two players trying hard to make a play...  well that's trying too hard to make your point that you don't like IF's playing OF.

Update from Park:

Good deal. He should be fine and ready to come in when we need him by the weekend I would imagine.

Too bad Garlick or Rooker wasn't playing LF, as they wouldn't have got close to the ball.

This is true of Larnach and Kirilloff as well. Nick Gordon has developed into a very valuable player for the Twins. He really is their third outfielder because all of the others are better in the infield or at DH.

My 1st take of this was that I was impressed that both got over there so quickly. I really like how Gordon has played so well at LF and his hitting, he is our best bet there and hopes he recovers quickly.

My 2nd take was that how Kepler failed to position himself by moving more towards RF to better  help take up the slack with whoever was playing in RF. And also do a better job of calling off Gordon since he was the CFer,

Entirely avoidable with three simple words, "I got it."    What we have here, is a failure, to communicate.

A ball traveling 100 miles per hour goes from home plate to the left center fence in 2.5 seconds. That would be read, react, call the ball, and react to the call/change course in less than 2.5 seconds while running.

It’s not as simple as 3 little words.

If Train A leaves home plate at 100 MPH and Train B leaves CF at 8 MPH.

How long will it take for the two trains to collide and social media to find fault with the trains.

They would have known better and there would not have been a collision.
