Rumor has it the Twins (along with a few other teams) are waiting for Upton to clear waivers. Once he clears they are only on the hook for the minimum salary. He could choose which of the interested teams he wishes to join. I would think of him as an upgrade over either Garlick or Rooker.

I thought that too Karbo as an option. A trade would be better to help manage our 40 man but I have almost lost all hope that this FO can initiate a substantial trade. So Upton would make a very viable option if they can negociate something.

I read quite a bit about Garlick vs. Rooker.  Neither can play D all that well, and neither has impressed at the plate, or we wouldn't have this much discussion.  If I have to have a 4th outfielder who can't hit much, I would at least like to have one that can play all three positions in a pinch and not embarrass himself.  I know this is going to go over like a fart in church, but I am more and more starting to long for the Caveman (yes, it hurt to say that).

As for a 3rd catcher, c'mon folks, that would mean not keeping 16 pitchers to lighten the load on our overworked starters (and it didn't hurt to say that).  Yes, I would rather keep a Cisco over a 16th AAA pitcher (or 15th, or 14th oh, you know what I mean).  If nothing else, it would mean we could pinch hit or DH Sanchez or Jeffers in any game without having to lose sleep over it.

And just an aside:  we talk about Sanchez and a 3rd catcher, can they hit, who is better defensively, etc.  What has Jeffers done at the plate so far in the majors to believe he is any better?  Career .211, and .143 so far this spring. What if his stick goes south?  It has happened.  I guess I would just say stay tuned.

Upton might very well be worth a look, especially if we consider our other options. If we go on ST performance, neither Rooker (.063/.211/.125) or Garlick (.037/.161/.037) should be in the MLB discussion, and maybe not even in the "should we care if they stay in the organization" discussion. I know ST isn't the best indicator always but for guys fighting for a roster spot they are sure stinking up the joint. If they can't handle the make the team in ST pressure it's hard to see how they will handle the pressure of playing games that actually matter. Also, by the way Jax (13.50 ERA), Velez (27.00) and Romero (6.75) gave up 9 earned runs (6 by Jax) in the last 3 innings to cost us the last ST game.  I don't care about the game but I just hope those 3 are not on the MLB roster on Opening Day (although I guess Romero might be). Sheesh.

I think there is a better than 50/50 chance that out RH hitting 4t OF is not on the team right now but will be Upton or someone grabbed on waivers from another team. Rooker gets waived for the 40 man spot and probably gets through (not a big deal if lost) and Garclick is assigned to the AAA team or released. By the way, I think this is the right answer.
