Roster Becoming More Clear as More Players Sent Down

I started a thread beginning of last season about Kepler in CF, I thought he looked uncomfortable there at CF. 1st I heard reports that he was OK there, so I thought that everything is fine. But later it came out that he wasn't comfortable there. It wasnt his preferred position. Last year they said we were so deep in the OF with Cave, Kiriloff, Larnach, Garlic, Rooker, Arraez and Celestino. That depth was not quality or MLB proven and that proved disasterous especially at CF. Celestino and Martin have a lot of potential which makes makes me optimistic about our future there but because they aren't MLB proven yet I'm uneasy of putting all our trust on them this year.

How do you know that TB aren't open to trade? Is it the same source that said the A's weren't trading Manaea? But yet the A's gave away Manaea to the Padres, you can't believe the retoric that comes out from the FO. There are rumors about both Margot and Kiermaier, wether the Twins can make a trade is 1st they have to try 2nd they have to persist.

No need to trade. Brett Gardner is still on the market. Just sign him.

They are all slightly below league average bats. Gardener and Kiermeyer bring plus defense to CF. Garder bring baserunning value.

Just sign Gardner.

MLBTR says they are looking to trade a pitcher with a contract, with Snell being the most likely to go.

I'd take a Kepler/Enlow swap for Snell/Gore.

Baseball Trade Simulator (Not perfect, but correct about 95% of the time) has that deal at dead even in value.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that Snell isn't worth his hype.

IDK Brett Gardner, if he's a plus defender at CF, RH hitter to platoon against LHPs and can pinch run especially with the return of the ghost runners. I'm all in for it. But our need at CF back up and TB need for power hitters plus trading from our 40 man is a win/win/win.

Snell and Kepler are a wash, IMO. The Twins don't have three good starting OFers, and people want to trade Kepler? I'm baffled.

And doesn’t matter who’s in the outfield when the ball is flying over the fence for the other team.

It matters a lot when singles become doubles and outs become hits; only also ran teams have poor fielding.

Twins lost a game last year when the other team won without a hit; Twins lost a game where both teams had double digit scores but winning team did not have a single home-run, some here must like that.

Give me a break we are not trotting Ty Wignham out there lol!!!! You all act like after Kepler it’s a bunch of weekend softball drunk players like ourselves on the 40 man roster Cave is gone lol….
Pitching wins, always has and  starting pitching always wins….. unfortunately the team we love hasn’t addressed that in forever and when it comes to fixing it people act like it just “magically” happens…. You have to give to get is all I’ve said and if you want a quality arm it will take a quality piece to get it.
Just an old weekend drunk softball 40 somethings opinion.

Being third worst in number of errors for both leages is so unimportant.

Sure, sure, if you say so.

What hype?

I see a league average pitcher with a commensurate two year contract for his production. That's why he has to be paired with Gore or Weathers to balance the trade for Kepler, who is a league average corner outfielder on a value contract.

They are both league average players, but Kepler is on a league friendly contract.

No trade of Kepler for Snell happens unless Weathers or Gore are included.

Gardner is a LH batter, so he has the strong side of the platoon going for him.

Unless you think TB will just give us the blue eyed boy for Jhon Romero to swap 40 spots. Then sure, I'm game.

Again you are not answering the point about how do you obtain good starting pitching ?? Just asking the stystem” has produced who besides Berrios that’s proven…… I’ll wait ……

Some people are in love with Snell, I agree he's average. I'm not trading Kepler for an average pitcher no matter what. I'd trade Kepler + another Twin on the 40 man for a frontline pitcher otherwise forget it.

???? don't understand your rationale, TB needs power hitters we need a 4th OFer/ CFer sub, pure and simple. Don't complicate it.

I never said one word about getting good pitching, and I do not really care about the pitching, the only thing I care about is the the Twins fielding does not look like a Chinese Fire Drill which it has too often.

I like the Kepler/something for Snell/Gore type of framework.  Max is a good player but the system is flush with corner OFs.  I see Austin Martin as a future LF, so we might as well open up RF for Kiriloff or Larnach.

Snell has fluctuated between elite and above average and his contract is kinda friendly given that.  (And not that much different than Kep's.  Similar control and price point relative to production and position)

I hope the Twins are at least considering it.

I guess that’s where people can differ and debate, and what’s makes it fun. My feeling is they can field like all stars, but if you can’t pitch it won’t matter but again only my opinion and only time will tell.
