He didn't dominate AA. First half in AA would be my choice then move him up. It was a rush job to have him start his pro career in AA in the first place.

And what has Lewis done at any level above A? That's the part I don't get. Why Lewis would be in AAA, above Martin. And, yes, he was great last year, no power or not.

If I were the Twins decision maker i would be working to possibly trade guys like Rooker. It's possible (probable?) that they have been. I just don't see a future for him with the Twins. He can be a solid hitter at times but consistency isn't there. Add to that  he has no position to play and is too young to be a DH.

He can't hit for power though. If I had to choose between the two prospects, I'd still tie my horse to Lewis because his ceiling tends to be the type of player harder to replace in free agency. Martin's skillset appears to be Luis Arraez with a handful more HR.

Plus, I don't think this front office would have many qualms about calling up a competent hitter from AA. They've done it with incompetent hitters.

Which has nothing to do with who is in AA vs AAA. Do people really think Lewis is ready for AAA, and Martin is not? Based on what history?

You may be right, I though Martin was much younger, but he is actually a little older. I'm not sure it really matters where he starts, but I see your point.

I guess I don't really care where they're at as long as nothing is holding them back from being called up to the majors if either are raking at their current level. Celestino got called called up from AA over Keon Broxton and Jimmy Kerrigan in AAA last year.

But maybe they think Lewis needs the push at AAA and Martin needs a chip on his shoulder at AA? Or maybe it's because Lewis is already on the 40-man so he'll likely get the first look if there's an emergency need, and the emergency players now play down the road in St. Paul.

I'd bet good money Martin outhits and out defenses AK in left right now. Put AK at first, and Martin in LF. Trade Sano for a bag of beans if you have to at this point.....because the D is going to be terrible with this alignment.

I agree but I'm willing to wait until May to make that move. Austin Martin could be an All-Star in LF. He's not a SS.

Juan Minaya pitched very well this winter in the Dominican Winter League.  He was the closer for the champions Gigantes.  He blew a couple of games but no one is perfect.  He also pitched for the Gigantes in the Serie del Caribe where his team came in 2nd place losing in the finals to the Colombian team.  I was thinking he had a good chance to make the team.  I am sure he will be in MPLS sometime this summer.  I was able to attend a game that Gilberto Celestino played in.  Celestino did not play for very long this winter for his Dominican team Los Toros del Este.  The game I attended he got 4 walks and and made a Byron Buxton type over his shoulder catch in center field.  It brought the stadium to its feet cheering him.  I only saw him on tv before but when I saw him at the stadium I realized how fast he is.  I got to meet him after the game and he is a very nice and polite man.  I hope he catches on as an utility OF since I don't want anything to happen to Buxton.

I was just thinking that 3 catchers is a reasonable luxury for a 28 man squad but not for 26.  But, when you get down to the nuts and bolts, it's not even as simple as that.

Part of my dilemma is not viewing Sanchez as a catcher. :)

Unfortunately for all of us, he's going to catch.
