Depends. If Plouffe is playing third it's pretty close. Second or short, and Plouffsie is a speedy two-spot middle infielder who runs rings around 'Neausie.

Vanimal is very hittable. Unless he can get movement and grounders off his hittable stuff, we might be seeing more games like this. I didn't see the entire appearance, so I guess I didn't see any indication that he wasn't trying to compete.

Must be some kind of relativistic effect like the Lorentz Contraction, caused by slower-than-bat travel. Not to be confused with the 2002 Minnesota Twins Contraction.
