I voted Rodon. I hope it’s Rodon, because he definitely helps fill a need.

He can be dominating. I would pursue the twin acquisitions of Rodon and Correa. They would make the Twins a better team right away. I’d add Odorizzi also for about 8MM per. Plus Pineda. Last I’d make an effort to acquite Binentendi to play the bulk of games in LF. I think Martin and Miranda and possibly Celestino are ready to contribute at a high level from the get go. I’d trade Sano for pitching and install Miranda at 1B and Martin would play as the DH and around the diamond as needed.

I wonder if more of the deals that happen quickly with the transaction freeze lifted will be trades than free agent signings—because a FA signing that was close to the finish line before the lockout likely could have been fast-tracked before the deadline and because front offices are all working at similar levels of urgency. Maybe also because some FOs back-channeled a bit during the freeze (though they technically weren't supposed to.)

Not specific to the Twins, but it'll be interesting to watch what transactions happen first; trades vs. signings, bigger vs. smaller deals.

Years like this, where playoffs are already out of reach

Keep in mind, playoffs have expanded, and it's a little too early to conclude that the top 6 spots in the league are untouchable. Fangraphs projections right now have the current Twins roster at 79.5 wins, just 5 games behind the #6 spot.

There should be plenty of opportunities to evaluate prospects, even with a few more FA additions.

The only way Twins make the playoffs is if almost all their moves pan out. Not all-star level, but everybody has to at least play to mlb average. Twins haven't had a year like that in a long time. That way, even if Buck goes down again, his replacement (Celestino, Lewis, Martin) has to play decent ball, not become a hole in the lineup or in the field.

Same with pitchers. If a starter goes down, his replacement must deliver average performance. Otherwise, they'll be out of it by June.

2019-2020 was a long time ago?

For the record I’m still very much on the Trevor Story bandwagon.

First LOVE C&H.  Have the complete set.  Two I would like to a new Story at shortstop, but I think he waits on CC to sign.  Hence I voted for Rendon.

Heh-heh, for me it was fifty pounds ago. I feel like Sano in his first year, after eating too many burritos. Except I can't swing a bat, or run, or field... you know...

As for playoffs, I mean playoffs as in, not guaranteed to get crushed by the first team with an okay starting rotation. Not the highest bar, I hope...

I love the idea of guys like Rodon or Story but this is still the Twins. So we'll get a Pineda and a bunch of long-relief, bullpen arms and go with our bullpen rotation.

I afraid of this happening too.  First I like Big Mike, but he CANNOT be your move.

I'd over pay for some guys on a 1 year prove it deal...I've heard, (and I think is is BS though), that Rodon(need to remember to drop the N) and Story could accept these.

I honestly think it might be better trading if they miss on Rodon.

Go after one or two of the pitchers in Oakland or Tampa.

Sign Jansen as a reliever to pair with Tyler (righty/lefty) and let the kids play to see who is any good.
