The Twins don't need Pitching PROSPECTS.  They need PITCHERS.  I'm so tired of talking about prospects while the Twins have let available PITCHERS go to other teams because they spend their wad on the likes of Donaldson.  Really?  Talk to us when the Twins get some PITCHERS.  How many MORE seasons will this glaring problem exist before they figure it out? #insanity

One of TD’s strong points is talking about prospects and the minor leagues. No other site has this much comprehensive coverage and Seth et al do a really good job at it. Some of us like to follow these kids from start to finish, so to speak, so we really look forward to these off-season rankings and in-season coverage so when one of them finally gets there, we already know as much as we can to cheer them on. I get your ‘complaints’ about the Twins needing pitching, but honestly, this is where it starts. Or, we use these prospects to make a trade. It’s a huge part of the game. I suggest, for your own peace of mind, when you see an article with the word ‘prospect’ in the title, you ignore it. With nothing happening right now in baseball, this is pretty much all we have to read and discuss.

Well, I'd have a difficult time ranking a guy almost guaranteed to miss most of the season with TJS as your top pitching prospect.  The Twins will have wasted a whole year with Canterino and Duran by not convincing those guys to go that direction.  So, let's see.  Canterino was at high A in 2021.  He'll likely have TJS early this season and miss this year and most (probably all) of 2023.  He spends 2024 at AA trying to get his control and command back.  In 2025 he starts at AAA and we see whether he's MLB ready at that time.  If he's still a starter.  This all could have been sped up by a year.

I was not aware he was expected to have TJ.  Do you have a link you can share?

Just wanted to say that Canterino didn't pitch much in 2019 due to his coming off a a college season in which he nearly hit 100 innings. Like most everyone, he missed 2020 except for some instructs and the like. Now, I think he should have jumped to AA to begin the year, but I'm sure he would have been there quickly. But the lost 2020 season affected a lot of pitching prospects and not just in the Twins system. Injuries like TJ can happen to any pitcher at any time. But unless something has happened more serious, potentially, that the Twins know and none of us are privy to, he was shut down as a precautionary move. I think we should accept that at this point. Same with Duran, Winder, etc.
