My only question is who is going to play and where. Austin Martin could be bumped to AAA. Looks more and more like Royce Lewis would start at AA after a delayed spring training. Beckham and Robertson were recently signees and both could be considered for the major league roster, getting a job on any 40-man guys. Of course, they would have to be added to the 40-man.

Where does Palacios fit into the Twins minor league and overall picture.

Twins, when the lockout end,s will still have two vacant spots on the 40-man, and also two spots of guys who will be on the long-term disabled list. So people in minor league camp will be watched closely, for shortstop, rotation or bullpen arms.

I'm certain one of two things may happen.

1.) Injuries always find a way to clear things up.

2.) If not, when the season starts, there will be players released.

Might not be the correct spot to post this but…

Are they signing more players like Soto because they have a dozen or so players on the 40 that would have started in the minors but may be locked out? Miranda, Lewis, Celestino, Larnach and Rooker may all join AAA late and Beckham, Robertson, Soto and others offer them flexibility until they get there.

I would say absolutely Yes... At the same time, these guys all have big-league time... so it's like the JT Riddles and Daniel Descalsos from last season. Gotta have depth.

That said, Miranda, Larnach, Celestino will all play most every day once they start playing.

Lewis, I would assume, would start at Double-A.

I would think Palacios would also fit into the play every day category too. I think they really like him.

But again, when you can get big-leaguers on minor league deals, it's not a bad thing. This year, there's added need to fill potentially short rosters.

Last year the Twins signed more than 30 minor league free agents, and it seemed the AAA roster was full of such names for most of the season.

A few are always necessary as that stopgap, if necessary, between innjury or prospect play.

The Twins will have to find room for 10 plays currently on their 40-man roster in the two higher levels of the min or leagues. St. Paul currently has 4-6 sports. AA is full, but some of those will backtrack or be released. But there are a few on the AA roster (Jordon Gore, for example) that you would like to see start at AAA.

After time in Japan and Mexico, Oswaldo Arcia returns to try his hand in indy ball and return to a major league organization.

In some ways, he was the outfielding version of Miguel Sano that the Twins cut loose...hoping he would never become David Ortiz.

DREW MAGGI, who offically did play for the major league Twins in 2021 as he was on the major league roster for a couple of days, signed a minor league depth deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

One of those few Twins that were part of the team, but never got in a major league game.

Phillies also signed JOHN ANDREOLI who was a depth pickup by the Twins and played with the Red Wings in 2019.

And AARON BARRETT moves from the Nationals organization to the Phillies. He had four stints with Washington between 2014 and 2020. Aaron was drafted by the Twins in 2008 but didn't sign.

Another former draftee unsigned by the Twins in 2018, JAMES MARVEL, also signs with the Phillies.

May the Phillies let him actually taste that cup of coffee.

JUAN MINAYA returns for his third minor league season. In 2020 he was called up for three days but never pitched in a game. He was a solid arm in the pen in 2021, but considered to expensive to give a major league conract.

In 2018 Anibal Sanchez signed a minor elague contract with the Twins. Didn't work out, he was cut before the season but ended up signing with Braves and saw a resurgance in his career as a starter. Then a horrible 2021. Now back again, on a minor league contract with The Nats.
