The Future is Now.

(started yesterday's intro off with a Coen Bro's movie quote regarding the past, figured today would be the future)

And strangely i want more from the movie, but this as good as i got...

So what are y'all looking forward to in the Twins world?

We got a collective bargaining agreement coming up (eventually)

We got a playoffs with no team from Minnesota involved, though perhaps a former Twin or two.

We go Mr. Ryan on the mound for tonight. That's pretty exciting.

And we got some good players in our minors, not to mention the rest of the current roster.

Does Buxton sign long term? Does he get injured? I look forward to finding out.

In the meantime...

Do you think if Bert were still in the broadcast booth, he’d still pull out the “downward plane” cliche with Ryan on the mound?

No doubt.

Career high in home runs for Buxton, and in only 58 games.

Yeah, he looks like a natural, with that long, lanky swing.  He can generate a bunch of bat speed, much like a golfer who hits the long drives.

I was waiting to post until it was the future. I think maybe it's now.

Byron Buxton has been my favorite player since his first year in the minors. OK, yes, I'm 60 years old, but I still get a favorite player. The Twins need to re-sign him. There is no other option.

When Kirby was a free agent I sent a letter to Carl Pohlad saying, in effect, that he needed to either sign Kirby or get ready for a Metrodome with no one in it. I guess I was prescient in that both of those things eventually happened, but it wasn't Kirby's fault.

I have really enjoyed watching Donaldson's at-bats the last month or so. That one especially.

Yeah, he's taken a lot of criticism this season.  But, I think he's finally healthy and really feels part of this team.  His personality can be somewhat annoying, but I think his teammates realize he's a gamer.

Justin Morneau mentioning eliminating interleague games at the end of the year. Sorry, Justin, but with an odd number of teams in each league there will be at least one interleague series at all times. Always. No way around it.

And if the Red Sox have to worry about no DH in the final series, they have had to worry about it for three fewer games earlier in the season.

Either that or a lot of weekends when a city doesn't have any baseball. Unacceptable!

Not just because stadiums would be empty but also because it would require lengthening the season. And to do it only on the last weekend of the season, potentially giving a postseason team three more days off just before the postseason begins? Way unfair.

Frankly, it's time for MLB to expand but they don't want to ruin existing teams' ability to hold cities hostage by threatening to move to cities that should have already received expansion teams.
