It would be rather silly not to do this. That allows the team to punt on the next 16 months and then come back extremely strong afterward. It minimizes downtime and gives a strong several year upward trend in its wake.

And the Twins still have Taylor Rogers and possibly Max Kepler to trade and add to the farm.

I don’t think San Diego can afford to do this. They already looted the middle of their strong farm system, this also loots the upper end of it.

Yuuup it would be a pretty big collection of blue chip prospects making a move.  But man, talk about a statement that you're not messing around when it comes to winning a championship ASAP.  I would've included Rogers in place of Theilbar but obv he's off the shelf for the foreseeable future.

I voted no, but only because I think that's a pretty massive overpay from the Twins' side. As long as there are other serious bidders for Berrios (especially if those bidders include the Dodgers and/or Giants), I think he could probably get most if not all of that package by himself. And on top of that, I'm firmly in the "make the [redacted] incentives work and sign him already!" camp on Buxton.

No chance. Look at the Stroman trade for comparison. No chance.
