I keep thinking - we scored 14 runs and lost!  And we lost to the Detroit Tigers who are supposed to be the worst team in the division.  And all we have for a diversion is a question about which good players we will trade or as we get closer will we trade?  My is this season going from bad to worse to unimaginable.

7 HR's; 4 in one inning; nearly coming back from 10-0 and 13-6 deficits; and scoring 14 runs....and we still lost by 3 runs, thanks to yet a third straight 9th inning meltdown.

My kingdom for some pitching!  Twins pitching, especially the bullpen is a complete embarrassment. And today the starter was abysmal.  Inexcusable loss. But this is getting commonplace.

What a mess.

Ashbury - you are correct. The Cubs only hit 6 homers in that April 1955 game. My bad.  Thanks for pointing that out.

But it still is a cool historic completely Twins like event!

To be fair, Ash only knew that because he took a couple of his grandkids to that game.

This kind of play is abysmal. How did we sink this low so fast? You can blame the bullpen, the starting pitchers, hitting with runners in scoring position, fielding and ghastly running mistakes on the bases...something has to give. It is unfathomable to me that this team can be this bad in one season. They do very little right. This isn't the Wednesday night beer league or is it?

I’m wondering in the history of MLB if a team has ever hit seven home runs in a game and lost to a team that hit zero?  Can’t be many times that has happened.

How about a team scoring 17 runs without hitting a HR? That in itself is pretty crazy.

This season and team has become a total disaster, an embarrassment.  Yes, there are pitching problems that could have been addressed by the FO prior to the season.  Yes, there have been ton's of injuries.  But at some point we have to understand that this team and the players have quit.  That is on management beginning with the on field leader.  If I am Mr. Pohlad, at season's end I demand that a change to the on field staff undergo a total change.  If the FO is unwilling to be 100% in on that decision, they also go.

I'd say just the opposite about the hitters. They came back from 10-0 to make it 10-6. They scored 6 in the 8th to come back to a 13-12 game. They scored 2 more in the 9th. The hitters never quit the game. They also came back in a few other games in the past week.

The team scoring 14 runs after falling behind 10-0 shows that the team hasn't quit, at least from an offensive perspective. This is an abysmal pitching staff. At this point it seems like pick your poison and the question becomes less, "which guy gets us out of this jam" and more "which guy would you like to give up three runs in an inning today?"

Not referring to this game in isolation.  Rather, the season which has had so many games with few or no runs scored along with unacceptable play in the field.  This team makes way too many fundamental mistakes.

Please cut JA Happ. It's time. We have enough healthy starters right now and there's just no excuse any longer for running out a terrible pitcher that gives your team no chance to win. He had a fine career, but he's cooked at this point. Happ can't get anyone out and is getting drilled by anyone who happens to be right-handed. He can't really get lefties out either, they're just not crushing the ball against him. He's had 7 starts where he's given up runs equal to or greater than innings pitched. He's only had 7 starts all year with a Game Score over 50...and you start out with 50 points in Game Score. 4 of those 7 were in his first 5 starts.

A solid start every 3-4 starts isn't acceptable. The signing was reasonable at the time and it looked good at the start of the season, but this is why you have a 1 year deal: so if it goes bad (and this has gone hideously bad) you can cut bait and move on. What do you gain by running him out there to get his brains beaten in for another 10 starts? Let's see what we have with Strotman, Barnes, Jax, etc.

Happ got destroyed by Detroit, a bad team going nowhere, twice in 10 days. He has zero value. Time to cut bait, please.
