You realize you are responding to a post from more than a month ago, right?

And I meant what I said, he is now where he should be.

Honestly, sir, this isn't a coherent response.  And, in addition to being month late, is demonstrably and obviously false.

He demonstrated he has a lot to learn in AAA.

Now we're changing subjects?  He's had 20 at bats and he struggled in two of the games, but if sample size doesn't matter he hit .400 his last game.  Guess he's a Hall of Famer?

Rob Refsnyder is not ever going to be a player we miss if he's let go.  Nick Gordon might be.  The kid should be playing every day.  Sure as hell beats watching Simmons.

Simmons is a top of the line fielder, the announcers today said so repeatedly; Gordon is rookie who may become competent as an infielder but will never be as good as Simmons, ever.

AAA is for learning , big league is not for subjecting ticket buying fans to maybe-maybe not, regardless of team record.

Nick Gordon will not be as good a fielder as Simmons was/is.  That's true for virtually every shortstop in existence.  What Nick Gordon might be able to do is hit his way out of a paper bag unlike Simmons and his ghastly 60 OPS+.  And he might do so for the next few years.  Simmons will be playing (poorly) elsewhere.

In a lost season it's foolish to hand at-bats to sunk assets.  Play lottery tickets.

If they were thinking about Polanco or Gordon at SS for next year, they would be playing SS now. Polanco is playing 2B every day and Gordon is playing 2B tonight, and played LF last night. Gordon is auditioning for a Super Utility role next year. In the last 5 St. Paul games he's played SS twisce and once each at CF, LF, and 2B. Miranda is doing the same I might add since he is playing all over the diamond in St. Paul these days. Arraez will wind up at 3B next year 80-100 games while Donaldson becomes a 2/3 time DH. Actually, more like 1/3 DH, 1/3 3B, 1/3 IL.

Next year's SS will be another stop gap while we wait for Polacios, Martin and /or Lewis to come up and play SS. My money's on Freddy Galvis or Jose Iglesias as next year's Twins SS, but it wouldn't surprise me if we get another year of Simmons.

Address starting and relief pitching. Leave Ober and Jax where they are and add either Ryan or Strotman since Winder has shoulder fatigue unless Winder's ready to go later when Pineda breaks down again. Bring up and pitch Moran and Hamilton out of the bullpen. Thorpe replaces Barnes when he's ready. Find out what you have and what you need.

In the field, bring up Miranda and see if he can hit MLB pitching. He can have Rooker's spot unless that's saved for Buxton's return.  If it is, send Refsnyder, Cave or Astudiilo down. I'd vote for Cave but he only has one option left so it'll probably have to be Refsnyder unless Donaldson breaks down again, They'll want to save Cave's option for next year.

2022.

Jeffers and Rortvedt catching, with Garver splitting time between 1st/DH and catching.

Somehow we end up with Sano at first base. So, where do we play Kirilloff?

Looks like the Twins love Polanco at 2B, which pushes Arraez to 3B, and then Donaldson to more DH play. Who plays shortstop? I would picture that if the Twins are looking at 2022, I would have Miranda playing everyday at third base, Polanco butchering us at short, Arraez everyday at second, and Donaldson when he wakes up feeling okay being the DH.

Oh, yes, we play Kirilloff in left, Kepler in right, and Buxton in center, I guess. Larnach better have a good spring if he wants to make the team. Management has shown that they have an uncanny ability to find spare outfielders, so no need to keep anyone else on the 40-man except Celestino.

We want Polanco playing everyday. We also want Arraez playing everyday, but we want more from third, more from left or right than he gives, more from shortstop.

Balazovic and Strotman both need at least 3-4 starts in the majors before the season ends. I picture Joe Ryan being a lights out closer candidate.

Anyone over 30 in the bullpen, and anyone on the disabled list come season's end should be questioning where they will be come 2022.

In watching this year I'm starting to think that we might never see Arraez as an everyday player - his knees were bad to begin with and now there's pretty frequent moments where his footwork is awfully wobbly. I don't know if there's an active medical issue going right now, but his career might be limited by his knees far before he loses any skill as a hitter.

I actually thought at two separate moments that we saw the end of his career as he either went down in a pile in the outfield or flat on his back at the plate.
