I still don't understand the challenge call. You can only challenge one call on a play. But the Royals challenged both calls.

It doesn't matter since the next platy was a lineout DP but repay is worthless if the rules aren't followed.

Why does Celestino play so shallow? So far, we see him running horrible routes backwards and not catching catchable drives if he was playing at a reasonable depth, especially in the late innings. Haven't they learned anything from Buxton? Play deeper and don't run into the wall. With Celestino, he can't even get there. He just runs a bad route and then stops short and plays it off the wall. Playing double depth, which he should have, he would have caught that double on the fly and saved the excitement.

He clearly isn't ready to be in the majors but as we know this was out of necessity.

Simmons gets two assists on this play? How often does that happen?

Never mind...

Would have been a cool side story, but oh well. BTW, one assist per putout. Here's the rule.

He is not ready at the plate, but defense is his calling card, supposedly. If he is not ready to play the outfield after 5-6 years in professional ball, when is he supposed to be ready? Playing the field doesn't change, it has no better pitching to hit, etc. He runs horrible routes to the ball, many responsible for not getting to and catching it. He needs to be coached better and positioned better while he is here. That is for sure. I can live with he can't hit and isn't ready for MLB pitching, but no excuses for playing the field.

This. No rookie up from (basically) AA is positioning himself, is he? If he gets burned on a fly ball, which he most certainly did, that's on the coaching staff.

Granted, the coaches probably had a case of Dyson On The Brain, and were concerned that playing deep increased the chance for a little looper falling in for a single, after which a pinch-runner SB ends up with the same situation.  So it could be that the coaches own that double, but it was still the only reasonable choice.  I'm not clever enough to decide.

It's also on Robles for allowing the solid contact in the first place, although even then I can't say it looked like a bad pitch to me.
