Counting tonight, the Twins will have gone 2-6 against the Orioles and Royals over the last stretch. I'll be curious to see if this prompts the Organization to open up the bidding for Cruz, Simmons, Pineda, and Robles. Selling this early in the year could potentially improve the returns.

Problem is, none of those guys have played well enough to warrant much of a return. Maybe Cruz but he’s looked his age most of this season. Maybe Donaldson if he continues doing well. Other that that, not looking good for a big return on investment

I'm talking about a much bigger sample size, than tonight's game.  And no, I don't expect him to have a reliever ready at the start of the game.  But mayber 1/2 an hour later and 6 runs on the board, I do.

He did wait an awful long time to get anyone warming

Well it went from 3-0 to 6-0 with one swing and he immediately started to warm up Anderson. When it's the first inning, you're going to give your pitcher a little longer leash to work through some damage.

Rental guys rarely get a big trade return anymore, so I'm not expecting huge hauls. That said Cruz, Simmons, and Pineda are all guys who will be legitimately attractive trade options for teams looking to upgrade or fill in for injuries. I would guess all three bring back fairly attractive packages (especially if the Twins are willing to eat some of their salaries).

Actually, they should have left Shoemaker in there until he got at least 9 outs.  I don't care if he would have given up 100 runs.  No point in wasting the bullpen any more than necessary.

Truth is this team and front office deserve this.

We can stop watching...but they still have to show up for another 100+ games.

It’s time to start wondering where this team will rank on the list of all time underachievers. This was an across the board playoff pick. Maybe a few prognosticators had us pegged as a wild card entry. I can’t think of one publication of note that had us even missing the playoffs. And now this. An epic, total, complete failure

It's tough to succeed when over half of the starting line-up are guys who would be in AAA right now if the season had gone as expected. Add in a starting pitcher that is obviously cooked, and competing gets even more difficult.

Just turned the game on... at this point, it's just funny. Something new will go wrong every game, and if you have the right perspective, you can have a pretty good time!

How is it possible, in a season where pitchers are dominating hitters, that practically every new pitching addition has gone up in flames? Is Wes and the other pitching coaches doing anything? What the heck is wrong with everyone?!

Just to respond to myself, is there a list somewhere of biggest underachieving teams in mlb history? Hard to imagine an across the board playoff pick losing 100+ games

More responding to your first post...this has to be one of the biggest ever. They were World Series picks for some!

Feels worse than 2016’s Total System Failure for sure. It was fun they won 83 games in 2015, thanks to a red hot month of May. There wasn’t a baseline projection of being a playoff team that year. I had a good time poking fun at that roster and their flaws.

This year the product is worse than the train wreck in 2016. And for the most part, feels like we’re stuck trying to win while Buxton and Berrios are here. There’s always time to rebuild in the future.

I come to TD out of habit, and love for the site over the years. All I can muster for Twins content lately is reading articles here, and the Athletic.

I didn’t see too many WS picks, but that probably had more to do with the playoff losing streak than anything
