Is it worse for a rainout to wipe out a 2-0 lead or for the bullpen to do so? We all know it's one or the other, right?

It's too bad we couldn't have gotten through the bottom of the fifth (with a lead) before the rain came.

I've never understood MLB's rationale on handling unfinished games. If the reason for not finishing after 5+ innings is the weather the game becomes official (if one team is in the lead). If the reason for not finishing before 5 innings is the weather the game is wiped out and replayed in its entirety. If the reason for not finishing is anything else, such as a power outage, the game is suspended no matter at which point play stopped and is completed from the point of suspension.

It was fun seeing him dominate with St Louis as a teenager when my life revolved around sports sports sports. I’ll never forget when he broke Brad Lidge in the playoffs hitting a moon shot over their train at Houston’s stadium.

I'm a Cardinals fan as well, so I never get tired of watching that bomb. I know exactly where I was when I saw that. Just one of those moments. I remember laughing at the contrast of reactions between Pujols, Lidge and the Houston crowd.

Oddly enough, I remember seeing him play for the first time when I was in StL his rookie season. We were sitting in the LF seats and he started in LF. He dropped a routine fly ball in the 9th that cost them the game.

Man, the way this season is going it will be called because of rain and we'll be stuck with another 7-inning games doubleheader and blow 'em both.

Rule change last year means these early innings will count no matter what. Suspended games are resumed from the point of suspension now, rather than replayed in their entirety.

This is not true anymore, they changed the rule last year. Any game suspended before 5 innings is now resumed from that point at a later date.

This is a good thing. But is there still a difference in games suspended after 5 innings?

No, all suspended games are treated the same now, and resumed from the point of suspension.

The 5 inning threshold just means the game could become final rather than suspended if it’s not tied (or not in an inning where the road team has just taken the lead).
