Imagine where they'd be without Cave and Astudillo carrying the team.

That's a depressing thought. Not only that the rest aren't doing better, but those are the two we're relying on.

Well said Dave The Dastardly. I've been saying this for awhile, but get beat back down, as if the only goal is to hit the ball hard as opposed to doing what it takes to win games.

I find all these stats with all the initials and plus and minus signs which turn the game into an antiseptic exercise quite aggravating. Exit velocity, angles, squaring away barreling up,,and various other things that have been dreamt up ..are they really making the enjoyment of the game better? Is it really so 'wrong' to care about BA? Or put a runner on second and drive him in (RBI) Is that so silly? When a guy hits a HR, is it really necessary to immediately tell us how hard it was hit...like you get extra points for 'exit velocity? If the fence is 300 feet away and the ball goes 301 to win a game...thats really all I care about.

Do we really need to endure the shift for another season? Putting a runner at 2nd to start extra innings?

 

Too much tinkering with the 'game' will steal its soul. (but you have to understand I watched Willie, Mickey and the Duke play live. I saw Hoyt Wilhelm throw a no-hitter against the Yankees when he was still a starter. Marveled at Bob Gibson, Warren Spahn and Whitey Ford. AND, was there at little ofd Jarry Park to see the Montreal Expos first game ever....us old timers are getting fewer and fewer...and for many, they may feel good riddance..but we still love the grand old game, you know)

Watching Sundays game. Why does the RBI Stat not matter again? Couldn't we use some this year?

No reason to think this isn't a last-place team, and I did not see it coming. The bullpen, sure, I expected to hold the team back from being elite. But this is looking close to the Total System Failure at the end of Terry Ryan's tenure, all over again.

Will you follow the Saints?

Absolutely.........with the way this season has gone, if I can make a trip to Minnesota, it will be to see the Saints at CHS Field as I won't waste my $$ seeing this misfit group of players at TF.  Never made it to a Saints game in SP, but would sure enjoy the experience.
