I don't think Buxton will be coming back today -- he DH'ed last night, and the plan was for him to play CF for St. Paul tonight.

So if Refsynder indeed goes on the IL, I expect we'll see Celestino again for a game or two.

ahh didn't see that he was DHing but that explains why Broxton was also playing last night. If it weren't for his day-to-day injury i'd say park Cruz in a corner outfield spot tonight and hope it isn't an embarrasment to show to other teams "hey look he can play the field, no really, he is out there right now. That's his glove and everything"

Dang it, Garlick was finally getting a chance to show what he could do and he has to go the the IL with a dang sports hernia, and combine that with Refsnyder getting hurt last night. Man the hit's just keep on coming for the Twins this season. Someone need's to burn some sage, poke some needles in a Ozzie Guillen White Sox doll, or get Jim Thome to bang a tom tom drum and work for the Twins again. If the Twins didn't have bad luck with injury's this season they would have zero luck at all

Garlick to the IL with a sports hernia. Celestino recalled.

I know it would require a 40-man move, but Broxton must be frustrated and downright embarrassed right now.

No roster moves yet, but it has been announced that Maeda will be reinstated from the IL on Monday to start against Seattle.

It's only Saturday. Plenty of time for a fresh injury to someone so as to make this plan work. :)

The steam is that Buxton and Arraez will be activated for Monday in addition to Maeda. Celestino and Jax seem highly likely to be optioned. Be curious to see who the third player would be.

I’m wondering if it is either Kirilloff or Larnach, although either one could end up on the IL. Larnach’s lower legs have taken a beating and Kirilloff might have a lingering wrist or ankle problem.

Kepler must be close to ready to return as well. The Twins might have a glut of position players pretty soon, but it’s a pretty good bet that someone else will get hurt.

It's quite astounding that Shoemaker, Dobnak, and Jax are all still on the roster, but I guess they just don't trust anyone else in AAA. Stashak is on the IL, as of the 11th.

Jax isn’t too surprising, he is fully rested. And Jax’s availability may be allowing them to wait on making another pitching move right now.

In spite of having just 1 year of service time and predicted to be a #5, Dobnak was signed to a long contract.  He may spend time in the minors, but he isn't going anywhere otherwise.  In any case, he deserves more time to figure things out, as again he has just 1 year of service time.

Shoemaker should already be gone.  The Twins don't have to wait for "the right" replacement for Shoemaker.  They just have to make one move now.  If that move doesn't work out, make another move later.  There is no logical reason to prolong the team agony just because "the right" relief pitcher isn't available yet.  Managing a baseball roster is a process, not a one-time-event.  "Shoemaker's roster spot" does not have to be filled by just one guy for the rest of the year.

The only reason I can think of that the Twins have not parted with Shoemaker yet is they want to save face, they are holding out hope that he turns things around and they are not seen as making a mistake, or maybe they truly believe they did not make a mistake and he is just "unlucky."  Neither excuses are logical.  By wasting time on Shoemaker, the Twins are only hurting their own future.  (Though this was true three months ago, as well.)

The Twins have to be bold, and make some changes to send a message. If the guy building your house starts to put in beams crooked and use fewer nails, do you keep him on the job because you signed a contract? Pay him for the work he ahs done, and get someone else!

It was previously announced that Shaun Anderson was activated off the IL and optioned to AAA, but evidently he was DFA’d.

Rangers claimed RHP Shaun Anderson off waivers from the Twins.

Anderson struggled mightily during his time with the Twins this season but has flashed some late-inning relief potential in the past. He'll be assigned to Triple-A Round Rock for now.

Does it?  I count 40 at the Twins web site (41 actually, but they still list Anderson).

That list includes the 60 day ILs and Celestino twice, so they should be at 39. Even if they aren’t, there are quite a lot of options to open spots, like sacking Shoemaker or putting Smeltzer on the 60 day IL.

So we got nothing for Lamonte Wade Jr. Bummer.

Yep. Clearly with that trade they were choosing between Wade and Cave. Both lefty-hitting outfielders, projected as backups whom they wouldn't mind starting for a stretch. I thought it was a questionable decision, but certainly not impossible to understand - Cave had spent more time in the majors and had hit OK, and it seemed like the management trusted him more in CF. But Wade's on-base skills plus decent overall offense and a bit of defensive versatility definitely would have had a place on this roster.

It's kind of a surprise that Cave tanked as badly as he did, but not a surprise that Wade has been playing well.

Another example of the failure of this regime's scouting accumen.  We've gotten and will now never get any contribution from Anderson, while Wade is thriving with the division leading Giants.  Everyone on this board knew that Cave should have been the one sent packing.  Not Wade.
