LaMonte Wade Jr. recalled by the Giants. He may get semi-regular work at first base with disabling injuries to Ruf and Belt.

I wonder what happened to Jaylin Davis? He hasn’t played in the minors or majors for them this year.

BBRef says Davis is on the 60-day IL. The good news for him is that he gets major league service time and pay IIRC.

Blankenhorn continues to ride the DFA train. He was claimed by the Mets today. For those keeping score, he’s been on the Twins, Dodgers, Mariners, and Mets in 2021.

At least he should get a chance to hit for their injury-destroyed roster. Clearly teams want Blankenhorn... just not on their 40 man.

He’s only 45,000 DFAs away from matching Oliver Drake’s 2018 season. I feel for him being in limbo and not able to establish roots anywhere yet. At least he’s getting an MLB check and racking up the frequent flyer miles.

Travis Blankenhorn continues his trip around the major leagues, now claimed by the Mets and added momentarily to their 26-man roster. The Mets also got rid of 2016 AAA Rochester Red Wing signee Wilfredo Tovar from their system. The question, where will TRAVIS land next!

While nobody was looking, the Tampa Bay Rays arranged for a minor trade with Pittsburgh for relief pitcher Sean Poppen.

what could possibly go wrong.

When it involves the Rays, I'd say "what could possibly go right?"

Probably not exactly the right place to put this -- but technically they are ex-Twins -  Mauer and Morneau look like they could still fit into their old uniforms.

I think some of these retirees could possibly compete to get on the current Twins' roster.  I need to check my spam folder to see if that is where evite went.

The continuing journeys of Twins jettisoned from the 40-man roster. Minor League Free Agent signee and roster addition Brandon Waddell, who was claimed and pitched for the Orioles before entering waivers again, is now a St. Louis Cardinal!

That was weird.  Drake's FIP kept enticing everybody, I guess.  He had a nice time with the Twins, though.  Not sure why the Twins cut him at the first opportunity after he finally started pitching to expectations.

LHP Joe Beimel, brief Twin way back in 2004, has signed a minor league deal with the Padres at age 44.

The real story is the guy ahs been pretty much out of ball since 2016 and is nearing 44 years of age. He [pitched in three games for the Twins giving up 8 runs in 1.2 innings as a situational lefty, after a 49 game stint in the minors. Seven teams and 9 organizations between 1998 and 2016.

Beimel is older than dirt. I don't understand that signing.

Marketing?  A good story the minor league affiliate can play up?  Somebody is somebody else's brother in law?  It probably doesn't move the needle on anything, and I don't spot anything in his bio to suggest a reason for him or for the team in San Antonio.  The Padres probably had a need in their organization and this way of filling it will be fun in some way, I guess.  They do have a couple of bullpen lefties on the IL at the moment, so a depth signing was probably called for, but merely having a pulse still isn't actually enough for a guy to get a call.
