Where should the ASG be played? (no politics)

The obvious choice is LA, in my opinion. They’re the champs and missed out on hosting the 2020 ASG.

With that said, Manfred will probably choose the AAA stadium in Portland because he’s Rob Manfred.

Great comment. I agree with your rationale.

If California seems too "political" for some, I say drop it in the middle of the country. Kansas City is a great venue for the midsummer classic.

Regarding 2021, I agree. I was speaking in more general terms about where a suitable neutral baseball venue might be.

Personally, I love the idea of Japan in any year other than this year. My wife is Japanese and, having lived in Tokyo years ago, I know how much the people love baseball. My wife actually cares about the Twins now because we have Maeda. She wants to stream Padres games because Darvish now pitches for the local nine.

Crowd noise and enthusiasm levels would not be problems if an All Star Game was played in the Tokyo Dome or another of Tokyo's pro baseball stadiums. Transportation and accommodations either. Tokyo is an incredible city.

It's not like baseball doesn't travel well either. It's hugely popular in several pockets of the world, including the Caribbean, parts of South America, and East Asia. Also, growing baseball is a current priority. What better way than taking the showcase game of America's Pastime on the road? Staging it in Japan will include some heavy logistical lifting around language, travel costs, and jet lag, but I'd love to see it happen. In the short term the Olympics are likely to muddy the waters because so costly and cursed. I could see an ASG in Tokyo maybe in 2024 or 2025. That would be cool.

The thin Martian atmosphere probably would aid them in their quest.

And in Mars' lower gravity, the baseball will only weigh about a third of what it does on Earth. In addition to its effect on hitting, it would allow Dick Bremer's trademark warning track fly ball crescendos to last three times as long.

Also, don't forget that the players will also weigh a third as much on Mars, so just imagine the defensive prowess of a 200 pound Miguel Sano...

Exactly. It should be at Dodger Stadium.

They got it taken away last season.

It should be the only choice.

And, as I said before in another thread, being currently scheduled for 2022 they probably already have some people and plans in place so I expect it would be easier for them to ramp up than it would be for any other location.
