just in the 10th inning.

Thats modern baseball for ya. Strikeout 17 times, yank the pitcher in the 5th inning and try to get 12+ outs with 13 different pitchers. And still lose due to bad fundamentals. All in a tidy 4.5 hours.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen my kids little league teams lose this same way. Pitcher hits a batter, then someone throws to the wrong base, then someone drops a ball. Of course, I never had to invest 4 1/2 hours of my life to watch it happen.

I’m pretty sure I saw a couple of the young players crying in the dugout.

it's just one game, but honestly feeling kind of frustrated. Basically all of the symptoms of why we can't win a post season game showed up. Really bad bullpen, critical errors, and stagnant offensive production during critical moments. Not to mention one of our highest paid players can't seem to ever be healthy.

Lots to fix here... But anyone who isn't seeing things with rose colored Twins fan goggles will immediately recognize our biggest problem. Bullpen depth. Twins could really use one of those lanky side arm long-hairs that throw 100MPH fastballs during critical spots. Instead we have a box of misfits.

I step away with one away in the bottom of the ninth to finish preparing dinner and enjoy it with Mrs Ash, and come back to find WHAT DO YOU MEAN COMMERCIAL BREAK IN PROGRESS OH BLOODY HELL COLOME WHAT DID YOU DO??????

It was a team effort.

"Special" doesn't even begin to cover it.

I do take a perverse sort of comfort... If it takes this much for us to lose, we should be set for the rest of the season, right?

Only 1 of the 6 Brewers runs was an 'earned run'.  I'm assuming they treat that runner that starts extra innings at 2nd base as an unearned run?

And I've always felt that if the pitcher makes an error to put someone on, it should count as an earned run.  ERA is supposed to measure how effective a pitcher is.....

I know I know, ERA doesn't count any more, same as RBI's, etc....Hard to teach an old dog new tricks.  Do any of the newfangled FIP, ERA+, etc. do this?

Sure, the depth in the bullpen is questionable, but when 5/6 of the runs are unearned, it’s on the fielding. Also I’m not sure why we didn’t see Alcala in the 10th, I like Dobnak but I would not use him in do or die scenarios when you need strikeouts.

Alcala isn't really proven, so I get that, but I tend to agree with you. The extra innings scenario doesn't really seem to be a good fit for Dobnak.

Sorry if this has been talked about, but there's a little too much to sift through for a simple question. Does anyone know/remember if Colomé / The Twins were holding Wong on 1st?
