I’m concerned about the playcalling. It can’t be anything like this during the season or this offense will be hot trash.

On another note, Rashod Hill showed why he’s a career backup.

This is a concern with Vikings fans every preseason, they're calling the most vanilla plays. I don't know if Klint has what it takes, but I can assure you the gameplan is going to involve feeding the ball to Cook and then passing to Jefferson, Thielen, and Smith Jr.

Hill has no business starting, but IMO they shouldn't have cut Reiff. He was our best OL last season. I still like Darrisaw but assuming rookies will be ready is always risky.

They also need a veteran backup QB. Browning looks horrid and Mond looks raw.

Browning isn’t going to cut it. Mond will need time.

As for the OL, the performances from Cleveland, Davis, O’Neill, Mason Cole, Udoh have been surprisingly good. Still need to see more from Bradbury.

QB Play has been absolutely awful this preseason and it’s why they’re 0-2.

Yep, that’s why I find preseason worthless for fans. There’s no knowledge gained watching teams call 5-10 basic plays with some of the starters, then play the rest of the game with 3rd and 4th string players. Wake me up when the regular season starts.

He says he’s going to apologize to Cousins. I’m sure he’ll mean it too.

Given some of what his father says, I'd hope Griffen and others tell Kirk he's an ******* over and over. (assuming he agrees with his father, not everyone does, but it kind of looks like it)

I'd like to think the Griffen signing is Zimmer's way of telling Kirk he's an ******* too.

Why not start Surratt over Vigil? Surratt looked great against IND.

Expand

Surratt has mostly practiced with the 3s and seems to be behind Dye and Lynch. Also, take this with a grain of salt, but PFF had Surratt as our lowest graded player on Saturday.

Whelp. Not exactly the news you want to read before week 1.

Expand

Yikes, that's awful news! A meniscus tear isn't like a ACL or MCL, but it's still going to be a few week departure for him. And that's not to mention that Conklin has been hurt for weeks, and the TEs behind him are not very good.

Also, do we have any indication whether Thielen’s injury is serious?

Expand

All indications are that he will be fine. He'll be ready to play in two weeks.

Also, just saw this:

That's a fair bit of money for an older safety, but it really depends on how much guaranteed $$$ there is on the deal.

clearly I'm doing something wrong.....but they traded for a TE

I would have liked this move back in May. But in today's game with the War and Peace sized NFL playbooks and significant variances in systems and verbiage, I don't put much faith in a guy contributing who wasn't here all summer.
