Week 17: Vikings-Packers

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. Just wanted to get everyone's opinion/insights on sunday's game (4:15 pm)

My online sports book has the line at GB -3

I'm really glad to have this one at home, quite frankly. I'm still worried about a motivated Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball with a bye on the line though. The guy is money, but GB has certainly looked mortal this year. I have a feeling this will come down to Ponder and whether or not he can just manage the offense, make a few throws and avoid any big mistakes. I'm really excited to see how our defense plays against GB- will we see the team that held Houston to 6 at home or will we get the D that let the Bucs drop 36 on us in the dome? I have a feeling we've matured defensively and will play some competitive ball. Again, I still think this game comes down to Ponder avoiding the big mistake down the stretch. Sunday's game might impact Ponder's future in MN. Not sure if AP will break the rushing record, but I think you can count him in for another solid performance.

I'll be taking the Vikes +3 in this one. I see it going 23-16 good guys. Of course, our reward for such a result is a first round game at Lambeau assuming the 49ers don't choke one away against the Cards at home

Psyched for this game, didn't think at the beginning of the season that it would mean anything to the Vikes. But here we are in a win-and-we're-in, good stuff.

Ponder's performance is certainly a big part of it, but his receivers have to make some plays for him too. The offense needs to grind out some extended drives that result in points and keep Rodgers off the field.

It's also important that the defense to not let Rodgers get in a groove early because if he does, it will be bad news. The Vikes will have a hard time coming back from a big deficit with this offense - need to at least keep it close to have a shot to win.

I won't dare predict the outcome. Anything is possible, and frankly no result would surprise me. I just hope we live to see another week.

Peterson doing his thing while Ponder unfortunately does his. I'd be much more optimistic with Harvin out there, but the defense seems to be coming on at the right time. Never imagined this game would mean anything for the Vikes.

Sad he didn't quite make it, but helluva game. They are going to need to do something though, if they have Sherels in there next week in Lambau they are in serious trouble.

I agree, this "play-off run" could very well be a one and done with the personnel available. But crazier things have happened.

Agreed. It's tough to see our db's get manhandled.. Sherels looked out of place in the second half, though obviously I love his ability as a return man. I miss Winfield, Hopefully he can play next week

Wow, what a game. I didn't think we'd be able to give up 34 points and still win. Sorry AP came up a bit short, but an incredible year nonetheless.

Credit to Mr. Ponder, a nice performance in a pressure situation.

And it was fitting to see the season end as it started, with Blair Walsh kicking us to victory.

We may get our clocks cleaned next week, but this season has been a lot more fun than I thought it would be, I never dreamed we'd be playing in the postseason. (I hope I'm saying the same thing about the 2013 Twins in about 10 months.)
