One of Twins Daily’s core values is community. We are a community-driven site, supported by writers, moderators, commenters, and readers who challenge but also support each other. With that as a cornerstone, we fully support MLB’s efforts to slow the Coronavirus by suspending the MLB season for at least two weeks.

But yeah, we’re disappointed, too.Like everyone, we’re not sure of the absolute best way to respond to this worldwide event. However, for this site, it feels like an attempt at normalcy is a step in the right direction. So we are trying to shake off the same disappointment you feel and continue our daily coverage of America’s pastime.

After all, who better? Since this story detailing the end of the Twins season last October, Twins Daily has published 585 stories (and counting) without a meaningful game being played. Those stories have looked at last year’s performances, broken down players’ mechanics, poked fun at our obsession, analyzed the payroll, dissected the upcoming schedule (including the promotion schedule), examined the development of promising minor leaguers …. the list goes on and on and on.

Look again at that last sentence. All of those topics can continue through a suspended season. Plus, we have some brand new, never-before-covered events to explore. We’re cursed and blessed to be living in interesting times, my friends.

So why am I telling you all this? Because you can help. The difference between being an audience and a community is the level of participation. Register and comment on stories. Start topics or respond in the forums. Start a blog. Follow all the action on Twitter, Facebook or our emails.

But most of all, take care of yourselves, your loved ones and your community. The last week has reminded us that we’re all in this together. Twins Daily will continue to embrace that value, and will be there for this community. We encourage you to be present for each other, too.

Taking measures to prevent contagion now means we get to the end of the epidemic sooner, which means we get a faster, stronger recovery for business and our pastimes. Follow CDC and local health agency guidelines, everybody, and be well.

See you at the ball yard soon! Cheers!

Great! Thank you. Please take this virus seriously but don’t panic. Chances are you will be just fine. The precautions you take will help keep your at-risk neighbor safe. The goal of all this is to slow the spread to keep health care services from being overwhelmed (after all in addition to covid 19 people still have heart attacks, strokes, and all the regular stuff they’re busy with). Use common sense and maybe lay low for a little while. Relax. Baseball will be back soon and it will be sweet to soak up some frivolity again!

It’s such a strange moment in time. So many conflicting thoughts about this are in my head. My wife is a nurse. One of her primary responsibilities is infection control. I understand the importance of that. But on the other hand life will go on. It has to go on. We don’t live in a bubble. Whether it’s business sports politics or nature it is survival of the fittest. There is only so much we can do to stop the spread of this. Please use common sense. If you are sick. Stay home. Wash and sanitize your hands and keep those hands to yourself. Beyond that there is very little we can do to change the direction this is headed.

Long time reader, 1st time commenter. Just want to offer a big thank you to Twins Daily leadership for this site. Truly represents what internet community can be in the best sense. I for one appreciate your continuing coverage even through this. All of us will benefit from having an outlet beyond the sense of constant crisis we inhabit now, so thank you guys for great work and dedication to this community of readers and to the fine arts of baseball analysis. It's great fun to be a part of this thanks to you!

I felt ours might be a crescendo team, anyway, with the additional pitching coming via passing time, rather than games played. Relatively deep in position play and prospects compared to prior years, bullpen has depth and multiple starters should share the load over a long season (which just got shorter). Be well, everyone, and talking baseball will be comforting in these sports-less times (and maybe watch some old sports replays you've been putting off)....

I love this whole point.

This is exactly the time we need community.....esp a Twins community....because I’m going to go nuts if there is no Twins news for a few weeks.

So don’t kick me off if I ask questions like How is Buxton? Where will Royce Lewis play?

Welcome to TD, and asking such questions will always be OK.
