"Cave is only a passable defender in short stints." Preferably between batting practice and the National Anthem. :)

I hope when he defends for us are the no one can pass him. Cause maybe then he'd be Buxton-esc. (or is that -esque? maybe esk?)

By the by, where's Byron Buxton?

Why is Sano even being brought up?

Buxton has had one solid year off the injury list and that was 2017. He is a liability and since the Twins have depth in the outfield, it is time to trade him.

There is no reason to believe he is going to turn the corner on his injuries since he is constantly getting injured.

Not so sure I'd want to move Buxton regardless of injuries. During his 5 seasons with the Twins his impact on our W-L record is substantial...

Year - With - Without

2015 - 29-17 - 54-62

2016 - 35-57 - 24-46

2017 - 77-63 - 8-14

2018 - 14-14 - 64-70

2019 - 62-25 - 39-36

We now have plenty of depth, if an injury occurs we can still produce Wins. If we trade Buxton who are we going to get that will make the difference he has over his first 5 years in the league. All of this talk about trading Buxton in general and specifically for Syndergaard is fine for discussion, but I sure hope the Twins don't move him. His impact on our team is far greater than what Syndergaard's would be.

I want Buxton play as he has been for the past 5 years. Injuries are a part of sports, if we get a 100+ games out of Buxton his impact on the season will be huge. The main thing I want to see is him healthy in October.

YOu do realize that last year he entered 10 games the 8th inning and after and the Twins won all those games?  Still a nice record, but it is tempered by the reality that he was put in as a defensive replacement to hold leads.  His W-L will be skewed as a result.

I do have one question for you.  If Buxton were traded to the Chicago Cubs would you STILL want him playing as he's always played?  If you do that's actually kind of sick.

I saw him on Sunday. He was standing in and taking some pitches (no swing, but I think that was the point of the exercise) from Odorizzi. Seems like he's in good spirits.

He had a serious injury and he's ramping up slowly because these games don't count. Seems pretty normal to me.

It's the first time I've been over to the practice fields in Ft.Myers. It's fun as hell. Though there's a ridiculously fun shortstop that I absolutely can't identify and it's driving me nuts. Just incredibly smooth and has a weird high pitched voice.

Yeay. The question has been answered!

He's in Ft. Myers.

I can rest easy.

No matter where Buxton is, we all hope for the same thing; that he is in the lineup as much as possible and as injury free as possible and my last post was just to set my own expectations low. Hard to believe but in just over 2 weeks we will start to get some answers that are not pure speculation. Go Twins!

You've gotta think that they'll continue to be cautious with his return and probably have him start the season on the IL as kind of an "extended spring training." Wonder if this gives Wade Jr. a higher probability to make the club to start the season? Or if they'd stick with Cave AND Astudillo.

I predict he won’t be in the lineup in two weeks.

Who will ??????

The irony is that now there is a pretty good chance that he will be healthy for the for the opening day lineup but won't be in it because of lack of practice. Are the teams allowed to workout during these cancellations or is the whole thing shut down? Probably should know but just thought of it.

The facility is shut down.

Didn't he get traded to the Mets for some pitcher?

Doug D being a troll.

I just admitted I was wrong to suggest we trade Buxton for Syndergaard in another thread.  I will do it again here for you although you never seem to have a take.  You only seem to surface when it is time to take people to task in hindsight.  You've done it in other places and you are doing it here.  '

Sorry folks.  I have seen this act from Doug before

I also hope his back yard doesn't have a fence.

I think it should have a fence so after taking about 500 swings in the batting cage he can go out and practice running into fences. The key is to try to run through the fence not just into the fence.

Could you imagine if we were on the road against the Chicago Cubs?  Chris Bryant or Anthony Rizzo hits a deep fly heading for the wall.  Buxton gives chase...….

Do you think he would know well enough not to smash into the wall?  I am not so they wouldn't need to take him out there and show him the wall is made of brick and could kill humans who run into it at blazing speeds.  Would Rocco know to tell him?  I wonder

Well this is obviously a conversation for the crazy times we are living in but I actually thought of the Wrigley wall when I made that post. That is why the outfielder has to deliver a very aggressive blow to the wall an attempt to go about 10 feet past the wall. Byron should probably have fences and walls installed in his yard made of all kinds of different materials. The real point is if the answer to "Where is Byron Buxton?" is at home with his wife and kids, he still needs to maximize that time.
