LHP Blaine Hardy is a non-roster invite to spring training with the Twins this spring after spending parts of the last 6 seasons in a Tigers uniform. On Monday, he threw some live batting practice to Nelson Cruz, Josh Donaldson and Mitch Garver and felt good.

He should be given an opportunity to work out of the Twins bullpen at some point this season, maybe even by Opening Day.

"You say that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but this is a true testament to it being greener on the other side," he said. "I'm seeing a new form of baseball in this locker room with how analytical they are and how conscious they are of health, whether it's staying hydrated, eating right or getting the right amount of sleep. And then on top of that, they have very good knowledge of how to address how you feel on a daily basis."

Nice information here. What I am liking the most these days is the purpose with which our front office is identifying players, and the way they are working hand in glove with the coaching staff - specifically designing improvement work for each individual, based on observed scouting, showing potential results if properly corrected. Not to mention the culture being established, that makes players feel heard, included and important as an individual. This is a winning formula for any organization managing people.

The new Twins way seems to foster a better environment to get the very best out of each player. It's not just baseball stuff. It's people stuff, it's life stuff - valuing people, building relationships and an open dialogue culture lays the groundwork for continual improvement work to thrive, and provides the foundation for successful team building.
