Donaldson Official Introduction Press Conference (11:00am Jan 22)

There is a longer commitment from Minnesota to Donaldson than Rosario, but Eddie has been with the team since 2015.

 

I agree that it is Eddie's number to keep, but he has been in the organization since 2010.  Not 2015.  That's almost 10 years, plus it would send the wrong message...

If you check out the Twins 40-man roster you will see that there are 42 names there because even though Bailey and Hill are listed there, I have never seen where they were officially announced or where anybody was removed from the roster to accommodate them. At the time they were reportedly signed, the Twins only had one empty spot, the same spot that was still open when Donaldson was signed.

Bottom line is, the Twins still need to remove 2 guys to make Bailey and Hill official.

He's never been an all star though. Josh Donaldson is a three time all star and won an MVP. Donaldson has 45 career WAR.  Maybe neither of them really care but if I was Rosie I'd let him take #20.

While Pineda is suspended he is on the restricted list so won't count against the 40 man until he comes off the restricted list. Counting Pineda the Twins had 39 players on the 40 man and when Baily and Hill signed that went to 41 when including Pineda. Pineda will count eventually but for now he does not. When Donaldson signed it went to 42 so now someone has to come off.

 

By the time Pineda does come off someone els e might be hurt so they might not have to worry about creating a spot. Also when the regular season starts Hill won't count against the. 40 man because he is hurt so they will have that spot back until Hill comes back.
