I put together a quick package of Royce Lewis highlights from his time with Double-A Pensacola. Enjoy!

Has the big leg kick but seems to keep his hands and weight back well.  Hopefully is good at picking up the slider seems he may be susceptible to chasing that.  Want to see the fielding at SS.  Last time I watched he seemed to have a very long throwing motion.

It's amazing how difficult it is to find non-routine defensive plays going through some of these games. Kinda makes you wonder if we're not overvaluing defense in this era of so many strikeouts, walks and fly balls.

 

I can see what you mean about his throwing motion. I think his footwork is a strength, which is a big change from last year, in my opinion. My general stance with his defensive home is if the Twins trust Jorge Polanco to play shortstop, they're going to have no concerns about keeping Lewis there. But, he has enough arm for third and is fast enough for center, so it's a great situation to be in. I think ultimately he'll end up in whatever position the Twins need him in most when his time comes.

Seems like a great candidate to put Josh Donaldson's reported desire to share his knowledge and experience to help develop some of his new young teammates. Donaldson is a big proponent of the leg kick and launch angle.
