Front Page: Twins High Impact Pitching Options Dwindling as Wheeler and Hamels Reach Agreements

Recommended Posts

I wonder what it would take to get Jon Gray from the Rockies or Luis Castillo from the Reds or Robbie Ray from the D'Backs.

The Reds are trying to build a contender and there might be 1-2 pieces away from doing so.  I would love to have Castillo, but I don't think that it is happening.   Gray might be okay, but the Twins need an ace, and he is a number 3.  Ray is a number 4 in a World Series team.

Buxton's ceiling is legitimately HOF,

If he plays until he is 55.  Check out Larry Walker's numbers, including his 7 gold gloves.  He is not a Hall of Famer...  Buxton could not really get close to that realistically.     Andruw Jones is closer to his peak value ceiling, but Jones already had 6 seasons of 153+ MLB games by Buxton's age.

Peak ceiling and HOF are totally different conversations.  If career peak was the basis for a HOF induction, Doc Gooden would have already been there.
