Vikings @ Seahawks

Cousins isn't bad. He is very good. He racks up the stats year after year. Smart or stupid, he has the stats.

He just isn't a bigtime QB. Stats don't matter. Winning the big games matters, regardless of the stats. Joe Montana's stats pale to many that have played. So do Terry Bradshaw's. But they won the big games. It is a team game for sure, and winning is the thing that matters, not the stats.

Helps having special talent around you. I believe cousins wins this game with a healthy Thielen.

Rhodes doesn't even belong on an NFL roster. He's one of the worst corners in the league, IMO.
Not sure what happened to him, there was a time he was elite.
Zimmer continuing to play him is just another example of him being overrated as a head coach.

Amen! Rhodes has been horrible beyond belief this year.

We just going to pretend Cook didn't fumble twice, Diggs didn't drop 2-3 passes, Rhodes gave up 100+ yards in the passing game, and the defense gave up 200+ rushing yards?!

Cousins had a solid game. The rest of the team did their absolute best to lose this game and I think if you just call him "not a big time QB" off this performance, that's just silly.

He did create that last fumble.......

He also made a bone-headed penalty which gave 15 free yards to Seattle on what would have been 3rd & 7, got beat deep by a backup WR for 50+ yard TD, and gave up about 5 other first downs. The fumble was nice, but he's among the worst CBs in the league now. Opposing teams are game-planning to throw at him and he's embarrassing himself out there.

No, not me. I understand. But the most important thing is....... "down 4, with about 2 minutes left, regardless of whatever else has happened, the game is in his hands. totally. And he misfires on 2 consecutive chip passes on 3rd and 4th down."

And I say "not a big time QB" because of his career, not just this game. This game is just another example. It was another chance to make it happen..... and he couldn't.

Yup. The deep play might have been on blown coverage by the safety..... I guess we don't really know. I don't disagree, I just also notice the good stuff, too, and not just for Cousins.

The defense has dropped from top 5 in points allowed per game earlier in the year, to 11th. They are 1 point allowed per game from being median.......The offense is tied with NE for the 6th most points scored, and is trending upward.

The offense scored 14 points in the 4th quarter, not on short drives. They scored 23(4) points on the road, outside, against Seattle (that is the exact number they've been giving up per game, including road games).

Cousins was great. Diggs and Cook? Um. The Oline? The defense? Special teams?

I thought Cousins played good with Thielen still out. They've played what, 5 games now, with Diggs, Treadwell, and Bisi Johnson as our top 3 WR's. Still put up 30 points.

Defense was terrible. Can't give up 450 yards and 37 points and expect to win. I don't think I heard Everson Griffin's name once. Nothing more to add on Rhodes that hasn't already been said. D might be getting old...Rhodes, Griffin, Joseph, even H.Smith.

yeah, this loss is totally on the defense. I thought Cousins did a great job pulling the team back into the game. The OL was having trouble all night but he was pretty good. I hated the play calling at the end of the game but that two minute drill was a thing of beauty. The interception and fumble were killers (as was Cook's injury). The referees didn't have a great night.

But, holy crap, what happened to our defense? No interior line rush and they were pushed off the ball all night. We don't use Barr to rush either despite him being fairly good at it. The secondary is getting roasted. I have no idea how they can fix this. They could win a wildcard road game in Dallas but I don't see them winning in the second round.

They won't be in Dallas, Seattle or SF will get that game. We'll likely get to play at GB, which is a very winnable game. Zimmer and Spellman can add one more playoff win before getting handled by the Saints.

At this point, Thielen can just wait until fly recovered, no point in continuing to aggravate that hammy. Next two weeks shouldn't be too tough. Maybe they Packers will drop a game they shouldn't and they Vikes can get back in the mix for the division... they don't want to be the sixth seed and have to play at GB then at NO then at Seattle/SF. No way they win out.

I think the Vikings are pretty close to when the window closes with the current group. It is a young man's game (except for PK and QB) and if they don't get there this year, they might not be in contention for a few years (or more). Strategically, the Vikings need to win the division and maybe play the Rams or the Packers in Minneapolis. If they get in as the second Wild Card, that road is difficult, to say the least.
