Danny Salazar for the Twins?

The only problem with this is why would Cole come here. Along with the fact he will command a 6-8 year deal 35M+ a year. I will pass on that. We got lucky that Jake Arrietta and Yu Darvish passed on the Twins offers. By the way, how did those contracts turn out for the teams?

I wish we had Darvish. 172 innings of 112 ERA+ with over 200 Ks last year.

You’re still two starters and swing man short of a full roster.

No I'm not... Odorizzi has already been tendered, and I have no problems going into 2020 with Dobnak as the 5th starter... Graterol becomes the swing man if Pineda returns...

I covered that in my offseason plan. This team has a ton of money to spend... It would be an absolute shame to go cheaply and look for reclamation projects.

I don't think anyone, including the team want ONLY reclamation projects. But if this team has 8 roster spots to fill it would be both unrealistic and ill advised to fill them all with guys making $10M per year.

Besides, those types of players aren't going to accept a MiLB assignment or a simple spring training invite, and the team isn't likely to eat such a contract in May should the player not produce as expected. You need to sign several guys to compete in camp and provide depth should Plan A go awry, but those guys need to have a negligible contract so it's not illogical to wash your hands of them at any point.

milb deal for Salazar. Then minimum if he makes the team and incentives after that. I can't see any team giving Salazar anything more than an milb, he's pitched 1 game in the last 2 seasons combined.

That might be right, but at the same time, virtually every team in MLB could offer him that same deal. So to actually get the player, you might have to set your offer apart. Or, perhaps more likely, Salazar will just pick his preferred destination from the pile of comparable offers.

Minnesota could be an attractive destination, given our 2019 season, rotation openings, and potential run support. Although he'd probably have a shorter leash here too, given our expectations for success -- he might see better opportunity to re-establish himself somewhere like Miami, especially if he prefers starting over relief work, and then look to get traded to a contender at the deadline.
