SDSU ALUMNI BLAKE TREINEN BECOMES A FREE AGENT. TWINS YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Edit: I guess the Athletics couldn’t find a trade partner. If Wes Johnson thinks he can get Treinen back under control, 8 million dollars for a guy with incredible stuff is a solid deal. Take a risk Falvey/Levine!

Rotoworld.com on Yimi Garcia of the Dodgers. I mean, formerly of the Dodgers:

"While he pitched primarily in low-leverage situations, the 29-year-old hurler was actually quite good for the Dodgers in 2019 -- posting a 3.61 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 66/14 K/BB ratio across 62 1/3 innings. He was only projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $1.1 million through arbitration. Garcia should generate plenty of interest on the open market and it would be surprising if he didn't wind up with a major league deal."

I'm intrigued what that would look like... Can't imagine anyone taking on Lester, Heyward, or Kimbrel's contract without eating a good chunk of change.

Bryant and Rizzo have awesome trade value but who has the farm system to trade for them?

If they want to move the deals of Lester, Heyward et al, then they're going to have to package them with someone like a Rizzo or a Bryant. Or they accept that they're going to move them and get basically nothing in return. Kind of like when Boston traded Beckett and Crawford to the Dodgers. Had to toss in a player the dodgers actually wanted (Adrian Gonzalez) to get LA on board and actually give them something in return. Question becomes which team has the cajones to ask for Bryant while being willing to take on Beckett and Heyward.

I'm jealous of the Braves FO aggressiveness.

Historically the Twins and Braves have had similar payrolls and currently I'd say the two teams mirror each other pretty well.

Per Rosenthal, Angels acquire RHP Dylan Bundy from the Orioles.  AAA RHP Isaac Mattson headed to Baltimore.

The Angels sure love to acquire bounce back candidates. Hasn't worked out too well for them in recent memory.

Should add that Mattson is only 1 of 4 minor leaguers heading to Baltimore.

Also worth noting only one minor leaguer made it on MLB.com’s top 30 org prospect list. And he was ranked #21 in a below average farm system.

One maybe-MLB-ready reliever, 3 pitching draft picks from 2018-9 from rounds 4-6-8. Seems like a pretty reasonable return for a former top prospect who hasn't panned out like was hoped. Chances are the Orioles won this trade, but there's some small chance another team like the Angels can unlock the potential in Bundy.

Padres and Rays are swapping OF Hunter Renfrow for OF Tommy Pham and a couple minor prospects. Kinda seems odd for the Rays to move on from Pham after having a quality season with a high OBP. Perhaps they're not wanting to pay his arbitration numbers. Pham comes with 2 years of control and Renfrow has 4 years remaining, but Renfrow is coming off a season .216/.289, but with a lot of power.

Rays are getting top 100 prospect Xavier Edwards as well. It’s about the similar value as I suggested for Eddie Rosario but everyone thought I was crazy
