PS Game Thread "Luke" Twins vs Yankees 7:40pm cdt 10/7/2019ad

So is making the play required. Catching the line drive over your head...or catching the little popup 30 ft behind second base. Not making a ridiculous dive 10 ft from a single and turning it into a double.

Yup... Whatever the Yankees have done right, the Twins have managed to do wrong.

Like Sano standing on the front half of the dirt with two outs and missing a ball by a few inches.

WHAT THE HELL WAS HE EVEN DOING THERE

guarantee it would have reduced the number of k's. But it seems many here are rejoicing that he isn't playing. I'm not one of them.

Honestly, if Garver's as hurt as he appears, Astudillo should have been catching. Or least available as an option at 1B

There’s no doubt they’ve hit it hard tonight. But defensive placement is a part of the the game

you are right and they've done a better job than we have. Recall last inning, the ground shot snagged by the Yankee 2nd baseman in short right field and throw out at first base. In addition to being in short right, he was shaded towards the 1st base line and the ball was hit nearly right at him. I forget the batter...

The Twins have played better tonight, no doubt, and suffered from some bad luck.

But they haven't outplayed the Yankees. Driving in runs in part of the game. Not giving up needless bases is part of the game. These things matter.

Oh, for sure. If you want to argue it's been close, I'll concede that point. I happen to think the Twins have spent the night calling heads while 25 consecutive tails have been flipped. That's not predictable, nor is it indicative of actual performance.

The Twins have been crushing the ball and have virtually nothing to show for it. On the flip side of that coin, they've made some defensive WTF moments that gave the Yankees (nearly) free runs.

Perhaps going where he was told by the analytical brain trust? Maybe? Possibly, he does what he is told?

I'm going to assume the metrics placed him there.

I actually thought he was diving for the short hop. Once he started in, that was about all he good do.

To cut it off, he shoulda gone laterally to begin with until he knew he had it cut off, then charged it from there. Oh well. Troubled water under the bridge.

Castro hasn’t pinch hit for Garver yet for fear of losing his catcher

I mean Castro can't hit either, but Garver is not right. And god forbid something happen and Adrianza has to catch. What more could really go wrong?

This game hurts a lot more than the two blowouts. We really had a chance to win this one...the other two were lost causes. Well its 4-1 now. Yankees just continue to hurt us every way they know how. We have no answers for them.

Maybe they might be thinking a bit more about 'history'...meaning you never take a Yankee team for granted. And this years 'history' indicated we couldn't keep up yet again.

Its all pretty ugly. When you fail this badly in postseason, there is a lot to think about. when you're the only team that couldn't win one game in the tournament, its a bit embarrassing.
