Unless, of course, you play it like the season is coming down to this. Then you let your "ace" pitch 110 pitches.

Idk man, he wasn’t terrible but he was continually unable to throw his breaking ball close enough to the zone to get swings. They were starting to tee off. Maybe he could have started the fifth but if he finished it he probably would have been pulled. Just my 2c

If the Twins could win one of two in New York, that would be good. And I would rather win the second game anyway.

Win tomorrow, and tonight is forgotten.

After some high-level talks you were selected to pitch this idea directly to Twins management.

Delta 1996, MSP-LGA, 7am departure tomorrow, don't be late.

4 hours and 15minutes. That’s not the baseball I like to see. Even if the team was winning

It's really not Baseball, in my opinion. It's something other than Baseball. Real baseball is supposed to have a flow, a tempo. This game was excruciating to watch. It had no excitement whatsoever and I would have said that if the Twins had won 10 to 4. You might be saying, "How can he say that? There were homeruns galore. Well, it's because the game reminded me of the Energizer bunny. One at bat took so long that by the end of the game, many of the Yankee fans had even left the game after paying mega bucks for tickets.

Note: it's a one way ticket. If it works, we'll talk about the return.

My buddy is paying $450 for a ticket tomorrow. Part of it is the approach of pitchers and the outstanding eye of batters. Part of it is starters not lasting more than 4 or 5 IP. Part of it is a reliever facing one guy and getting pulled. But yeah brutal

After the walk home from the “sports bar” I reflected a bit.

I’m disappointed in Rocco starting Arraez. He wasn’t ready, and with a lefty it really should have been Schoop.

Mr Nibbles (Gibson) looked cooked! I still would have rostered Gibson, they needed the arm and he was as good as was available, but... why didn’t he get yanked sooner?

I’m very excited about Brusdar Graterol. He just continues to impress.

Go get em tomorrow Dobby!

I got a kick out of when Costas was complaining about the flow of the game when Gibson was pitching. I was like, "you haven't watched much Twins baseball have you?" Another thing that bothered me about the game is that I was unaware that I was tuning into the Yankees telecast. Believe it or not, the Twins have a ton of history. But you would have thought that we were an expansion team in 1999 by how everything was about the Yankees history.

My first 1300 post game thread in a losing effort.

I wonder what it will be like for a winning playoff game thread?

Stay tuned and find out tomorrow!

I think AOL probably had a size limit back then. Dial up internet was slow.

Twins threw 193 pitches tonight.

Throw the GD ball over the plate. Pitch ahead. Attack. If they hit it, so be it. But stop being strike zone shy

Quick way to lose: leadoff man reaches base, walks, sloppy defense. They were in a giving mood for sure

Rocco managed like the rookie he is. Most of the players looked spooked (is it Halloween already??). Something/Someone needs to step up or the next two games will be big-time bummers. I don't like this any more than anyone else. It feels like that famous phrase uttered by Pedro...

Who looked spooked? Nelson Cruz? Jorge Polanco? Miguel Sano? Jose Berrios?

Berrios failed to adjust and get his effing breaking ball over the plate, or at least close to it.

He continued to throw those breaking balls about four inches over the plate time and time again.

That wasn't even CLOSE to the worst game of the year.

Maybe not. But I have watched or listened to basically every single game this year. And this game is perhaps the only one I can honestly say that I did not enjoy even a little. A lot of it was not the poor play but the fact that if baseball continues trending in this direction of marathon contests, (I don't call this really a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Some Yankee fans probably didn't enjoy this one.), it will go extinct.

Welcome to postseason baseball in the 21st century.

In other words, baseball is fun because you throw the ball over the plate and the batter actually hits the ball. Waiting 45 minutes to see a ball make contact with the bat is not what I call fun. Better start playing baseball tomorrow.

I don't disagree. It's not much fun to watch this kind of baseball and I've been pretty vocal about it for some time, even while accepting that it's the best way to win baseball games.

I am ped beyond belief at the after show on ESPN.....They were making fun of Randy Dobnicks name....they kept saying it over and over wrong and laughing about him. I am so disgusted with MLB I will not watch the game. F@#$ the Twins deserve more respect as Central Division Champs and they are being made fun of.....I'd rather listen on WCCO than watch and listen to the embarrassment of the commentators making fun of Randy. Shame on you.

Rocco and the front office make the lineup decisions together. It truly was an odd decision not to start Schoop. They likely also agreed when Gibson would come in. That's how modern baseball works.

And that's why the FO now often hire 30 something inexperienced managers. They do what they are told. Actual game experience is not a criteria.
