That was a quick whistle. Diggs was looking to lateral as soon as he got grasped, and last I checked, this is a tackle sport.

Another bad call IMo.

So cousins was going to catch it at the fifteen and do what? It was a fine call.

This offense is terrible. Just like every Zimmer team so far.

Few years?

Mediocrity until Cousins moves on. Worse until they get a new GM, coach and QB.

Defense doesn't win in this league. Running the ball doesn't win in this league. Utilizing talent and keeping teams off balance does. I'm over this bland offense.

A team with the young talent we have should be able to rebuild quickly.

Zimmer and Spielman are gone after we go 7-9. They can eat the last year of Cousins contract.

This team is an automatic loss on the road against good teams, and this Bears squad has been chewed up by injuries... and yet the offense just looks atrocious. Cousins plays terribly, the O-line can't block, and Zimmer gets outcoached again. Yuck.

I think I'm done with Zimmer and Spielman. He's solid as a DC but his teams are never ready and the team doesn't seem to understand its identity. Which seems like a disconnect somewhere.

I don't think Cousins is the problem itself but he isn't a fit for this team. With a crappy OL (again) we needed a more mobile QB for our passing game and we need to develop a respectable run game. The coaching staff isn't helping at all. We win the toss but defer which is the opposite of what we should do - a run heavy team with a good defense should take the ball first, esp since the defense is better at halftime adjustments anyway. A run heavy team with a good defense isn't great at playing from behind so they should try to take the lead right away and limit the other teams first half possessions - just like Chicago did today. And then use the strong defense to limit the other teams first second half possession - just like Chicago did today.

Our passing game is a mess. Theilen is the home town boy done good but he takes forever to develop his routes that aren't slants. If Cousins' primary read takes too long to develop with this line, we get a bunch of sacks. I don't think it was a coincidence that our only good drive was a hurry up offense that focused on Diggs and Johnson in the passing game. We don't have much at third WR and are trying to rely on multi-TE sets - which don't work when playing from behind.

Only two current QBs have winning records against winning teams. It's a team game, but yes, cousins is not good enough. Doesn't absolve the coach

I'm not absolving Zimmer of anything.

You won't find a bigger proponent of firing Zimmer than me.

Regarding Cousins, there is a pretty big difference between a winning record, and 5-27.

How many "franchise" QB's have sub .200 winning percentages against winning teams?

I didn't expect him to be great, but I also didn't think he'd be this bad. He's Ponder-esque against good teams.

There is no way that locker room doesn't turn on Cousins, if they haven't already. This team has a lot of good players, and they have to be looking at Cousins thinking, "how is this guy making 2 or 3 times what I'm making?"

I mean, there is plenty of blame to go around.

Spielman for continuing to fail to upgrade the offensive line. Bradbury is awful, a complete mess and liability. They can't keep putting him out there.

The offensive duo of Kubiak and Stefanski, completely vanilla and predictable.

Zimmer is always being outcoached. That timeout that gave Chicago 3 points is unacceptable from even a rookie head coach. Playing everyone in soft coverage on 4th and 3 was bizarre.

Cousins is just awful in so many ways. He can't hold on to the football, doesn't go through his progressions, and his deep ball is brutally inaccurate.

There were guys open yesterday. The Bears coverage wasn't near as good as Cousins made it look.

The defense is good for one or two dumb penalties every game. Harris negating a turnover by holding a receiver that was on the opposite side of the field as Trubisky was running can't happen. And Griffen is offsides at least once every game.

This team has a lot of problems.

Looks like they're already turning on him:

"At some point, you’re not going to be able to run the ball for 180 yards, even with the best running back in the NFL. That’s when you have to be able to throw the ball. You have to be able to hit the deep balls,” Thielen said, per Chad Graff.

Thielen was then asked if he found it difficult to get open against the Bears’ defense. He didn’t hesitate to respond.

“I didn’t feel that,” he said.

AKA, he was open, and his quarterback couldn’t (or wouldn’t) make the throw.

They can't keep starting Elflein and Bradbury as interior OL. Teams have been funneling through gap they're responsible for on the OL almost every pass play.

Elflein has cemented his status as a bust IMO and I'm ready for him to stay on the sideline. I'm not sure Bradbury will be a good center moving forward, but I'm still willing to give him more snaps to come to a conclusion.

To echo everyone else, I'm on my last straw with Zimmer and Spielman. Yet another year with no identity or plan for the offense. It's borderline irresponsible to spend almost $50 million a year to employ Cousins, Diggs, and Thielen and not use them.

I could be wrong, but it seemed like he was open after five seconds of route running. He didn't get separation within 10 yards. That could be coaching issues - maybe we should have called more intermediate routes rather than long ones - but when I watched him on replays, he was never really open until pretty late into the play. And that was usually after the interior line had collapsed.

I could be wrong but that's what it looked like to me.
