Beltran's name is on an academy in Puerto Rico, and he doesn't just allow his name to be used, he's significantly involved. He is a tremendously good baseball man. While the adage about great players and managing is there for a reason, there are also hosts of examples of the exact opposite, like Frank Robinson, Joe Torre, and Davey Johnson (one of the best 2B in the league before getting injured after the biggest offensive season of his life and never able to get right again).

*The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros have entered the conversation. The New York Mets have reentered the conversation.*

3 legitimate contenders are looking for a manager in January. This has definitely been an interesting offseason.

Hmmm ... wonder if we could lose someone else?

Now the Mets fire Carlos Beltran...

Well, technically, Beltran stepped down ... but it was a 'mutually agreed upon' decision ... (at least that's what I read.)
