if he's on his feet, he doesnt take the extra time getting up, and he can adjust and get to the ball quicker. It landed like a soft wedge, it didn't go very far.

Whatever.

Yeah, this was my thought, but as Ash and Hosken pointed out, even if it were only a double, that WP would have had him on 3rd anyway. Most likely.

Watch the play. Wade does NOT move in to the ball. That means he is literally moving sideways at full speed and comes short of the ball by two feet.

 

There is nothing he can do that prevents that ball from getting by him, which means it's a triple.

 

I hate to keep arguing this, but he has to take time to get up from the ground and retrieve the ball that's behind him. That's a lot of time that Mercado then uses to hustle to third. Are you saying he couldn't have played it on a hop?

Again, it wasn't even close. The moment the ball got by Wade, it was a triple. Mercado is fast af.

 

I just don't get why everything has to be the fault of one person or another. Sometimes, **** just happens in baseball and that was one of those moments. Wade is a pretty good defender. He was shifted. Mercado *shouldn't* have hit a ball there, which is why everyone was shifted.

 

It happened anyway. Fer chrissakes, I thought that's why most of us liked baseball instead of trying to slap blame on someone every three ****ing minutes.

Nope. Watch the play. There's no way he plays it on a hop. That ball gets by Wade whether he dives nor not. I've watched it five times now.

relax. People can disagree, it's not personal.

 

And the whole point is, if he doesnt dive, he gets his hands on the ball much quicker.
