The minor league report says that Devin Smeltzer has been optioned back to Triple A. It would seem that the Twins will add a pitcher to the active roster, but which one? My best guess is Lewis Thorpe, who has worked out of the bullpen for the Twins, is left handed and who has been optioned for more than ten day (eligible to be recalled).

It pretty much has to be Thorpe. He just started Tuesday but they limited him to 42 pitches, probably with a quick recall in mind.

Stashak, Dobnak, and Stewart are all still ineligible to be recalled. Poppen is on the AAA injured list, as are Gonsalves and Hildenberger still.

The only other options on the 40-man are Thorpe, Romero, and Diplan. They do have an open 40-man spot, but Graterol's probably not quite ready yet to provide the length or frequency of pitching they'd likely want.
