How does a trade fix dropping a routine fly ball or booting a ground like Schoop did yesterday?

Presumably a trade for a reliever would make it less likely that our 7th inning reliever gives up a 3 run HR, or that our 8th inning reliever would allow both a walk and a hit before the warning track fly ball which Rosario dropped, not to mention the double, single, HR, and 4 more runs which immediately followed the error...

 

I didn't see Tuesday's game, but likewise, perhaps an acquired SP might make it less likely that our SP would allow 2 hits, a sac fly, and a wild pitch and passed ball all in the same inning before a fielding error?

Rosario styles everything, and it caught up to him.

I'm sure every coach Rosario has ever had, including Baldelli, has told him to cut that out. If a MLB veteran doesn't know to catch the ball with two hands by now, that's not on his current manager.

Complaining about pulling Perez is just silly. The guy is not a good pitcher, and an implosion is a matter of time. Everyone would be chastising Baldelli today for leaving him in if he would’ve done so, because Perez would’ve given it away eventually.

It seems like the new-age act from Baldelli is wearing thin. Everything looks great when you’re winning two out of every three.

It’s time to cope with reality. This team isn’t a great team. Certainly not the best team in the AL like we all started to believe. We’re not even the best team in the division. We won’t even be the best team getting a wildcard spot (if we even get one - a performance like this against Oakland and you can probably stick a fork in the season and start selling guys).

The FO should’ve struck while the iron was hot. They have massive culpability here for this thing going off the rails. What an incredible waste of a historic start. Mark my words today, this team will be on the outside looking in come playoff time. What an embarrassment (the defense, the awful pitch selection). Might be time to start thinking about halting production on that bronze statue of Wes Johnson. This pitching staff is as bad as we all thought it was when we were pulling our hair out about the lack of offseason activity.

Frankly, I’m getting kind of pissed off with Falvine and Baldelli at this point.

 

I guess it is time to be sellers at the deadline, eh? I wonder what we can get from Houston for Rogers?

.....But, this is clearly the worst stretch of the year for this team. If we're on a roller coaster, we're on the way down and nobody knows where the bottom is. Criticism is warranted.Fans should be frustrated and I see no reason for Twins fans to bite their tongues with all that's happened (and more importantly, NOT happened) in the past few weeks.

 

I guess I'm just saying that while I agree we shouldn't jump ship, I do think there are plenty of reasons to be frustrated as a fan. ....

 

To be basically a .500 team for a little over a month...... is a pretty good worst stretch. If they win 3 of 5 from here on out... 41-27 in the last 68 games...... I would say that 99-63 would win the Central. Winning 6 out of 10 games from here on out is not asking a lot. Cleveland would have to go 45-23 to tie. Which is not looking impossible. So time to win some ball games.

When was that last time you saw a MLB outfielder, any MLB outfielder, use two hands to catch a routine fly ball? And can you name the one(s) that do it all the time? I don't know of any. I am not saying it doesn't happen, but it is a rarity. Kids learning baseball? Always. But it is a thing of the past in the show, and not really needed anyway. I think the sun gave Rosario more problems on that catch than you might think.

The scorer gave him an error. In this day that doesn’t happen unless someone botches a very routine play. I’m pretty sure if asked Rosario would say he needs to make that catch.

I am certainly not saying that Rosario has a reason not to catch the ball in question. At all. The comment deals with the method of catching the ball with one hand two as the reason he dropped it, I do believe. (I think he just lost focus, as is the problem with the whole team right now). Let me know if that was not clear, and I will try harder. I have no Rosario showboat hate as I seem to be picking up from some comments.

Not so much today. But back when there was a knuckleballer or two in the league, catchers would be charged with passed balls that were simply the result of the ball knuckling away from the catcher. It wasn’t really fair to the catcher, but everyone understood what was going on.

Well, pitchers certainly are contributory as a matter of circumstance, as they have to throw the ball to the catcher. Words. I prefer the catcher allows passed balls, and the pitcher get assigned the wild pitch when the pitch is deemed not easily catchable, and the catcher gets assigned a passed ball when it is thought the pitch was easily catchable and it is missed. Truly, as yarnivek points out, the knuckleball is the outlier. I also feel that many pitches that are scored a wild pitch were catchable by the catcher, and should have been caught by a MLB catcher, and so therefore, catchers many times, allow wild pitches. But, since we seem to be nit picking, I don't see the pitcher ever allowing a passed ball. And now this.............

Really good pitchers don't allow unearned runs, either. They step up and get the next batter(s) and get outs. Allowing a bunch of unearned runs speaks to the pitcher just as much as the defense. The defense may open the door, but the pitcher's job is to step up and close it again, not give up a bunch of hits, or wild pitches, or walks, or hit batters, or balks, etc.
