Now that the 2019 MLB Draft is behind us, it is time to sit back and wait for news on when each of the 41 picks will either sign or decided to forgo their opportunity to play with the Twins. As the signings start coming in, this page will consistently be updated, so be sure to check back to keep up to date with all of the signings.This year the Twins have a bonus pool allotment of $9,905,800 to spread amongst their 11 picks in the top 10 rounds. Any pick after round 10 can sign for a value up to $125,000 without it counting against their bonus pool. There is a reasonable chance that the Twins were able to save some money with their picks in the top 10 rounds, which will allow them the ability to extend some of that money to their picks picks in later rounds.

 

Typically, teams will sign roughly 25 to 30 of their draft picks, though the Twins were able to sign 32 of their 39 draft picks in 2018. Let’s find out how many picks the Twins will sign this year?

While I'm a bit jealous as we've seen other clubs signing players already, it seems to me that lately the Twins have been making a production out of it and they've been waiting until multiple players are able to make it to Minneapolis so they can have some ceremonious signings in front of media and then meet-and-greets. If that's how it goes, it might drive us crazy, but that's pretty nice that they're doing it for these young guys who are probably already pretty stoked about it in the first place.

I like to hear as well, but since the team has a nice long homestand that would make sense. Bringing them in while the club was on a 10 game road trip probably wouldn't have made as much of an impression on the young men.

I don't imagine that kind of stuff would be made public but I have heard that Cavaco could happen really quickly (even possibly early this week). Personally I do like the idea of bringing them in when the team is at home so that they can meet the players, coaches, etc.,, maybe be on FSN and WCCO, stuff like that.

The Strib reported this morning that they had signed a player...I think it was Headrick.

 

There always also is a delay between signing and getting reported.  Would be shocked if more than a few of this year's draft hadn't already signed on the dotted line.  Many aren't reported because they are pending a physical.

They probably had "agreements" with their top 10-round picks before they were drafted... and maybe he has signed in the last 24-48 hours, but nothing confirmed.

I would be shocked if the Twins didn't sign all their first 10 round picks. More interesting to see how they spread any savings around for later picks.

I wonder if the Auburn players in the NCAA tournament have anything to do with the delay. There is Will Holland at 5, and Julien (who broke Frank Thomas' RBI record at Auburn last year, but regressed this year). The Auburn coach believes Julien "will have an interesting decision to make".

Honestly, dont know anything about him but what we read. I dont pretend to be a talent scout. But excited about reports of his power, good speed, cannon arm and supposedly excellent defense at 3B. Got one of the hottest risers in the draft.

A good shorthand for projecting these types of bonuses is to look at the next team they would have likely fallen to and splitting the difference between the two slot values.  There were a number of teams that were in on him in the first round, most notably the Angels at #15 probably would have taken a hard look if he were available.  That's more or less exactly where his bonus ended up (the midpoint between the two slots is $4.04M).

Thanks for that explanation.  Seeing that Wallner was also ranked below the spot the Twins took him, should probably get a similar savings when he is signed.

I found it interesting to read through the discussions from the draft when the Twins took Tyler Jay, in particular, the Benintendi thread. He was one of the fastest riders in the draft, and my question at the time was how a kid could really change their outlook in one spring season? Obviously, the late helium for Benintendi was correct, he had turned a corner or really started to show who he was.

 

For Cavaco, I’ve read that he didn’t appear in a lot of the big prep showcase events last summer (Area Code Games and Perfect Game Showcase) and so wasn’t on people’s radar until quite late. Thus the late rise in his stock. Here’s hoping that his value continues to rise as he starts his pro career. Will be interesting to watch his performance compared to the other kids in the draft, in particular prep kids who went before him (Witt, Greene, Abrams, plus Carroll after him) and others considered possible Twins’ picks like Langeliers, Jung (drafted before Cavaco) and Stott (who the Twins passed on).

Probably, though to this point we just have the names of those that signed beyond the 10th round. My guess is that none of them are more than $125K.
