Spring Training - Game 4 vs Red Sox

Recommended Posts

Just e-mailed my cable provider and found that I will NOT be able to watch the game tonight. Fox Sports North Plus is on their digital and HD packages, but not in the normal one. My response was "Any chance I can get either of those packages by 6:05?!' No response yet. UGGH!

That really suprises me. I thought as long as you get FSN you get FSN+. At least thats what I've heard. I know with Comcast its on a HD and a SD channel.

I hope you can get it in time. This should be one of the only games on FSN+. Once the regular season starts the Twins will be only thing on...at least after April.

Looks like lots of the guys who pitched on the B-game last Thursday minus Baker, Blackburn and Bulger, plus Marquis and Gray. Gutierrez really needs to get his act together in this one.

Punto and Repko starting for the BoSox

Had to double-check, but we will see history made in this game: This is Ryan Doumit's 1st ever start at LF in the pro-level. Never played left in his career. And has been a pro since 1999. Not sure about high school....

Here is the BoSox lineup:

1. Jose Iglesias, SS

2. Ryan Sweeney, RF

3. Kevin Youkilis, 3B

4. David Ortiz, 1B

5. Darnell McDonald, DH

6. Josh Kroeger, LF,

7. Kelly Shoppach, C

8. Nick Punto, 2B

9. Jason Repko, CF

RHP Clay Buchholz

And that is not a typo: Dave Ortiz 1B

whydidn't - Can't take anything from Marquis' performance tonight. He'll be fine. He's had a career of being pretty solid. No need to worry about him. If he stays healthy (and last year's injury was a fluke, broken leg), he'll eat 190-200 innings, post an ERA around 4.60, give up a bunch of hits and be fine as a back of the rotaion starter. Also, Hendriks is close, but I don't think anyone thinks he's ready. Give him a couple of months in Rochester, work on a couple of things and go from there.

Excuse me, but an ERA of 4.60 and giving up a bunch of hits is cause for worry for this Twins fan.

First time I've seen Doumit bat. He's got a hitch in his swing where he drops his hands. A definite no-no.

It seems more than a hitch, There's a lot of movement below the hips and doesn't seem to get steady anywhere before the swing. Odd for a large guy

I'll have to look for that next time. I also noticed he's got a lot of movement with his front foot. Lifts it high when swinging and stomps it down.

Ugh- I Appreciate the optimism at this time of year, but this means the Twins will need to score 5 runs each time Marquis pitches. Without Cuddyer, Kubel, Young or Thome I think that could be quite the challenge, meaning we are expecting a loss everytime Marquis pitches.

"Tough game for us. Marquis did ok...Manship bailed him out."

No, Marquis did not do okay. I'm not ready to give up on him after one ST game but there was nothing "okay" about his performance last night.
