I feel bad for De Jong. Not good for his confidence or career.

Feel worse for the fielders that had to stand out there an hour at 11:30 PM Waiting for him to record an out.

Having to warm up Rogers in that situation was an epic fail.

My guess is De Jong gets sent down tomorrow with Duffey or Vasquez coming up. I'm also guessing De Jong is at the front of the line to get dropped if the Twins need to make a 40 man roster move.

I want to give Vasquez a shot.

I fear Duffey has no shot left.

Could be 2 spots opening up real soon.

Y'know, I'm happy De Jong didn't let this happen in a game where it might have possibly mattered. And now it's as clear as day he shouldn't be pitching in the majors for quite a while, and hopefully will be sent back to AAA.

I think we already know the answer to that one.

I agree.  But the Twins seem not to, given the roster spot.  I think the Twins are seeing what they have early in terms of the bottom of the 40-man, or near 40-man talent, and then they will cut bait.  I rather like the approach.

I do, as well. Just not at the cost of losing a game.... or a potentially valuable insurance piece....

At least it's only about a 5 1/2 hour drive from Rochester to New York for whoever they call up

"He" might already be packed and rolling...  but he only has to drive from Syracuse...

maybe just hands the car off to DeJong to take the return trip back?

Oh, that goes without saying, but the Twins FO seems to be being super smart about the deployment.  So we shouldn't be too upset when we see Duffey or, say, Stewart recalled next.

Edit: Stewart with 7 runs tonight, though six unearned.

I want to agree with you on Duffey. Oh how I want to agree! Even though a part of me doesn't want to only because we've seen flashes of what he could be if he could find even a little bit more consistency.

But it's a new season, a new staff and pitching coach. With the guys still on the IL, isn't Duffey an obvious choice? Or maybe not considering they now have an obvious space to clear on the 40 man for ANYONE.

Interested to see what happens tomorrow.

Edit: scratch Stewart 7 ERs tonight.

6 unearned, but still, not a good outing for Stewart. I'm not sure if Kohl's being regarded as strictly SP depth or as a possible pen candidate for this season.

They'll probably work through and make decisions on Reed and Magill before moving Stewart to the ML pen?

You're right, I'll edit my post, I confused hits/runs with runs/earned runs.

I imagine the IL pitchers will make minor league stints before appearing.  I still think Duffey is the likely choice.  Does DeJong have options, if not, he'll probably be DFA'd and the Twins will have an open roster spot...

Nice win for the most part. Like most of you guys are saying we've played some tough teams who are supposed to be playoff caliber and we've held our own on the road so great start.

I like Eddy's aggressiveness but I don't want him kill himself we need him for the rest of the season.

It's nice having some power in the line up for once.

I know its early but this team has a little swagger to it. You know they look like they get along and they enjoy each other. You're not seeing any moping around or complaining and that's usually a good ingredient. for success. They're a confident bunch right now.

According to spotrac.com he still has 2 options left
